too bad its only six seconds and its not build in to the os, just the firmware check or something. but thats gonna be tight - im going to compusa and getting my ipod and tap (technology assurance program) soon!

Obviously they won't be able to call it an iMic... Griffin already has a USB audio input dongle with that name.

I'd think that it will be able to record to hd too (hopefully). ipoding has rumoured news of it being added later. I'm wondering if it will be possible on the old iPods? Probably not unfortunately, I get the impression this is one of the new features that relies on different hardware.
