Analog to DV can be done played through a DV Camera if you have one of those, that is the easiest way to do it. The ADC products are also great and easy to use.

This is going to seem very odd, but open Garageband and then close it, and your sound should be ok again. There something in the Core audio that gets restarted when Garageband opens. I had the same problem and this corrected it. Hasn't come back either.

Under the network pane in the system preferences. Configure the wireless card to "Using DHCP". I think though that the base station might not be handing out IP numbers and that might be where the problem lies.
