My 1TB HD in my black Macbook just crashed and Disk Utility said that it could not repair it.
So I booted up DiskWarrior 4.4 and ran that. It was able to build a new directory with all my files, however it said "The new directory cannot replace the original because of a disk malfunction"...
We were going to do that, but when we tried repairing the HD, it said it was failing. So I had to back up the data (before it fully crashed), replace the HD, do a fresh install of the OS, reinstall the apps, and put back my data.
Btw, to retrieve my data, all we did was drag and drop my Home...
the store:
What I tried:
1. Reset PRAM
2. Attempted to get into Safe mode (did the same thing)
3. Unplugged everything connected to it and tried booting up again
4. Booted up to DiskWarrior and ran it; it found and fixed some issues, but didn't fix it
What he tried:
1. Booted up...
I have a fix for fixing this issue in Snow Leopard and earlier, but not in Lion.
Here are the two fixes for Snow Leopard and earlier:
1st way (easier)
1. Make sure your Mail program is closed
2. Open Macintosh HD (double-click on it)
3. Select your Home folder (it will be on left nav...
In the past two days, I've tried to help two people fix their Mac issues with DiskWarrior, and with both Macs, when they tried to boot from the CD, the Mac would just restart, and no matter how many times we tried this, that's what happened.
Then I tried it on my Mac, and I was successful...
We went with VMware Fusion. It works awesome, thanks. We were going to go with the dual boot because I thought that the virtual solutions would be too slow, but it is quite fast, actually.
There's only one display, and we need it to be as stable and fast as possible. So, I'm thinking a dual boot would be best. What are your thoughts? Please include links to instructions for the method(s) you suggest. Thanks.
I need to take an iMac that was just bought 2 weeks ago and create a dual boot system (Mac OS X & Windows), as my friend realized that some of the programs that he's used to using do not have the same functionality in the Mac version. So he wants to have access to both Mac and Windows.
We'll...
OK. Thanks. I sent her an email to have her check those settings. TeamViewer is a cool app that allows remote access, and it's free. Check it out when you get a chance.
I've sent her an email about that. Waiting to hear back from her.
If someone is accessing her computer via VNC, how would they do that first of all? How would they have been able to set that up? Would they have needed access to her computer or could they have used a Trojan or something...
I have a friend whose Macbook Pro is behaving very strangely. Here is what she says:
A few days ago, I started up my laptop and it's acting really weird! It's super slow and the mouse/arrow on the screen is moving by itself and clicking random buttons. I can't even get the cursor to stay in...
I know this is a super simple question, but how do you see how far into the movie you are when editing it in iMovie '09? (i.e. how many minutes/seconds you are into the movie)
TIA
I just set up my system to backup overnight to my external via SuperDuper and got this error:

I do have a backup of it, but it's quite dated. I'm always on the computer lately, so that's why I'm asking.
I figured it was not good, but I thought I would ask. I know that a while ago, I'm not sure if I asked the SuperDuper developer or asked someone else, but they said that if you're...
