I'm trying to repair my XP installation, but it keeps getting stuck on 34 minutes. Is this a known issue?

I have never used a Mac before. This morning, I was given an iMac running OS X. The XP side has a virus that won't let me login. As soon as I click my profile, I get booted back to the login prompt. It appears to be the userinit.exe file. If this were a Windows machine, I'd boot to my XP cd...
