    Network Preferences Lockout

Thanks for the reply. My boss tried reinstalling Jaguar, preserving user settings but it didn't help. He did a clean install and that did the trick. The fact that both Macs were TiBooks of similar vintage makes me suspicious but he needed a working machine more than we needed to figure out...

    Network Preferences Lockout

My boss just got back from a trip to Honolulu (tough life) and found he had the same problem with his Titanium PowerBook (I think his is 400MHz). Built-in Ethernet and Airport list the connection options of a modem instead of the typical DHCP options. His menu bar icons are also gone. Another...

How do I startup and shutdown network services from terminal?

Thanks for the good examples of ipfw, Testuser. I was wondering what the "add 100" (and subsequent "delete 100") referred to. Is the 100 supposed to be the number assigned to that rule? Would you pick a new number for each rule? Could you assign multiple rules the same number so a single command...

I think maybe the authentication and encryption are actually handled by ssh but it passes on commands and such to the sftp-server...

    irc fallout

I got in earlier but now I get: *** Closing Link: extra88[unknown@255.255.255.255] (No more connections +allowed in your connection class) Is this a problem on the server side or my side? I'm connecting from an unusual source. I'm running RedHat in Virtual PC for Windows and using it set...

    SSH Problem

I also experienced the problem with OpenSSH in Mac OS X 10.0.4 and forcing SSH1 is a workaround. The only thing I could connect to using SSH2 from osx is a server running SSH Secure Shell 2.1.0 (the "official" ssh). It seems to involve sshd as well. I couldn't connect to my osx box from a RedHat...
