Macs slow on big W2K3 server folders

We have seen the same problem here and the cause of the problem is using AFP protocol to connect to server. Using SMB does not display the problem. However, SMB does have it's own drawbacks too. Now that we know it's to do with AFP we are trying to work out whether to switch to SMB permanently...

Hi, We have designers on Macs running mainly OSX 10.4.11 and they connect to our Windows 2003 fileserver using the AFP protocol. The Windows server is running SFM which supports the older AFP client. After much time researching, we found that when the designers browse the fileserver using...

    random insufficient privileges to rename

We don't use SMB, only SMB for the fear of what the SMB protocol will do to our files. All our OSX Mac users connect to the shares which are shared by SFM, using AFP.

Mac Pro running OSX 10.4.11 Server: Windows 2003 Storage Server with AFP shares. One of our designers works locally from his hard drive then at the end of each day, copies over a folder of the files that he has worked on, over to a AFP share on the Windows 2003 fileserver. This has not...

AD user cannot change AD password on AD bound Mac

All our OSX Macs that are bound to the AD are running either OSX 10.4.10 or 10.4.11. I need to correct my original post to say that the change password problem only occurs from ONE particular Mac only. Any user with an AD account can log into the Mac and log onto fileservers using their AD...

How to configure Single sign-on for OSX ?

Hi, I have sucessfully bound several Macs running OSX 10.4.10 to our MS Actice Directory domain. There were two reasons for doing this: No longer a need to maintain a local account on the Mac which we have achieved and the 2nd one was to achieve a single sign-on environment. However, it...
