This is....em... bizarre. It appears to be working again. I didn't do anything since checking the firewall. Turned it on this morning and noticed the time was wrong. Read some thing like the year being 2053. Changed the date then all of a sudden everything worked fine. Very bizarre but thanks...

Can't see the in the firewall section whether it's monitoring that. Tried the other stuff and still no luck. Might just have to look up an idiot's guide to setting up the internet.

Ok I found that and tried setting it up but no joy. I'm not sure if this is anything to do with it but when I go to dns I see some random name as 1of the search domains. What is that?

Can't seem to find system configuration in the preferences folder.

My mac connects to the one in my folks house but same problem happens. Everything else in my house connects fine such as my house mates laptop, our phones, my game consoles. I installed the update but it hasn't made any difference.

Any other thoughts on how to fix it or should I bring it in for repair?

It's osx 10.8.2. The router is technicolor. Can't see the model number and its a wep password. Don't think anyone has access to it.
