Copy windows to another drive? Does this mean that this LACIE drive is a windows format only?

I borrowed a LACIE drive from my songwriting partner to copy a song to it from my mac (in LOGIC). I noticed the drive wont accept anything at all - and has an error message "cant be moved, because drive "cannot be modified". What is happening here, and how do I solve it. There is stuff already...
