LACIE DRIVE PROBLEM with copying from mac

I borrowed a LACIE drive from my songwriting partner to copy a song to it from my mac (in LOGIC).
I noticed the drive wont accept anything at all - and has an error message "cant be moved, because drive "cannot be modified". What is happening here, and how do I solve it. There is stuff already on this drive too I don't want to destroy. Anybody out there? I'm a first timer here.

Thanks alot, I might actually get this done now, so I do appreciate your time! I'm a music producer and I have to get these music files copied ASAP. Last question - is this software I'm about to install completely safe, and are there any instructions on how exactly to use it? (thanks again)

I don't use that software, as I have no need. I don't come across many complaints about the NTFS-3G software, it does the job that it is designed to do - allow you access to the drive and the files.
I don't think that I have found any software, anywhere, that is 'completely safe'. Things happen - but, to my knowledge, this is fairly simple software, and if you have cause for concern, or unusual 'things' do begin to happen, you can simply remove the NTFS driver, and no harm done.
