    Finder Quitting, empty desktop

    I have a late 2007 MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.6, 4 GB RAM and a serious problem. My desktop has completely disappeared. When I boot all appears to boot normally but after everything appears normally everything disappears leaving me with an empty desktop, no menu bar, no dock and no desktop items...
