Thanks. Based on your reply, and a related thread I clicked on, here are programs I can look into: Goldberg (free), the GIMP (free but have to jump through some hoops to install), Graphic Converter, Photo Line, Fireworks, PhotoShop, PhotoShop Elements.

How can I take a photo and produce a lower res version of it for use on the web? I searched all over iPhoto and did not find a way to do it. A blurb on an Apple page said it could be done in Mail, but I can't find that either. What would you recommend for doing that? Is there any particular...
