    "Extract PDF to Text" Sux

Then I don't see why an empty file is left behind on my desktop. I have only one drive, one volume. The folder I want the file to go to is in a folder that is on the same level as my Desktop. I'm not trying to move the file between drives or volumes - simply from one folder (Desktop) to...

    "Extract PDF to Text" Sux

What an amazing insight! So, you mean when I change the default entry of "Save Output to" from Desktop to my desired folder and save it, this isn't the right way to choose a new destination location? And to be completely clear: I click on the default "Save Output to" entry of Desktop in the...

    "Extract PDF to Text" Sux

Yes, there is text in the PDF. I don't have any PDFs that don't have any text in them. The file output to my Desktop, however is empty, but the file that gets copied/moved to my desired folder has the plain text of the PDF content.

    "Extract PDF to Text" Sux

I've just spent the last hour trying to get Automator to simply comply with my wish to save the output of "Extract PDF to Text" to a folder of my choosing. Forget it. I choose the same output path every time and save the Automator workflow as a service and each time it saves the output to...

    Unexplained loss of disk space

Hi DeltaMac, I've deleted all associated files, logged out and back in, but the mystery loss of disk space still persists. Any suggestions of where to look for whatever is taking up this space? Thanks.

    Unexplained loss of disk space

MisterMe, I deleted the files and then emptied the bin. Brandon, Wow! I hope it doesn't come to that! Thanks, Bowjest

    Unexplained loss of disk space

Hello to all, Last week I had about 178GB free on my MBP. Since then, I converted 4 programmes I recorded from the BBC to DVD and installed two updates: iTunes and a system update, both of which were in the double digits of MBs. I have since deleted the files I used to create the DVDs...

    iPhone 4 Data Storage

You don't know how I can find/access this cache so I can delete things, do you? Would be very helpful! :)

    iPhone 4 Data Storage

Thanks, Diablo. I'm using IMAP rather than POP for my mail, so does that mean that the docs (or whatever) are not actually saved on the system? Basically, I just want to know how best to manage this sort of thing and delete items I don't want to keep on the phone.

    iPhone 4 Data Storage

Hello to all, I recently got myself an iPhone 4 and was wondering if it stores attachments I view when I'm reading my emails (Word docs, pics, etc.) or whether these are just opened in memory and then released when the doc/app is closed. Can anyone advise? Thanks, Bowjest

    Looping AppleScripts

Ok, how about this - I found some code to bring up a dialog box so I can enter the number of times I want the cmd+m/return thing to run. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get the loop to work. Here is what I have: tell application "System Events" keystroke return delay 0 tell...

    Looping AppleScripts

Hi, I've managed to find enough info via Google to get part of an AppleScript done that I really need. I use a translation software package called OmegaT. When translating, you can opt to auto insert a Google Translation suggestion by pressing the key combination cmd+m. If you then hit...

    Roll Your Own Automator Actions

Hi Whitehill, Unfortunately, I've never been able to get Quicksilver to work right on my Mac. I've seen some more AppleScript examples on the web about various "save as" functions, but they are far more complicated than what I need. Because I don't understand the syntax, I'm just stuck trying...

    Roll Your Own Automator Actions

If Automator is not the way forward, can somone recommend a site or resource where I can find an AppleScript solution. This must be fairly easy for a seasoned Mac user to pull off (which I'm unfortunately not). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Roll Your Own Automator Actions

Hello to all, I've been scouring Google for an Automator action that will allow me to drop .doc or .docx files into a directory and convert them to .odt, but so far I've had no luck. Can this easily be done or does it require a lot of programming knowledge to pull off? I really hope...

    MS Word Macros: PC/OSX

MisterMe, I'm not very familiar with AppleScript. I've done a Google search to try to find some related examples, but nothing so far. Can you advise further? Many thanks, Bowjest

    MS Word Macros: PC/OSX

Thanks, DeltaMac. I've got 2008, so will have to come up with something else. Can anyone suggest a way of getting the above done? I really don't want to have to make a note or "sticky" with the last invoice number used and proceed from there. I can see that going wrong in a big way. Thanks...

    MS Word Macros: PC/OSX

I take it from the lack of replies that it's not possible to script macros in the Mac version of Office. Is this correct? Bowjest

    MS Word Macros: PC/OSX

Hello to all, A friend has recently helped reformat an invoice template for me in Word so that it automatically generates an incremental invoice number and has a drop down box for customer address and other info. The problem is, he uses a PC and I have a Mac and I'm having some problems...
