    Opinions?

Not too shabby! I kinda actually like the way the menu overlaps the image in the 640x480 image, but other complications would arise if you tried to implement that, so whatever. I agree that you should let users know how to navigate your site. If it's not self-explanatory, it's *probably*...

    Another Design Critique

Okies, I'm currently working on another site right now. So far, this is what I've got on the design: http://dcbeta.dyndns.org:4000/index.html What do you think? Not quite done yet...There's a tree I wanna photograph which I'll be using, among other things. Reviews are appreciated...

I noticed that you said "cool sites that use PHP"...I'll point out Maybe Tomorrow, my weblog. :D It's built on an object oriented PHP library that I've been working on for a while. Adding features is ridiculously easy. And it's a website about me. ::ha:: There's my shameless plug...

True, it's hard to find a good transitional PHP site. I found that the best way to cross that bridge is to dive into some projects without looking back, trudging through the official PHP documentation when necessary, and making mistakes. Sometimes tutorials become a crutch, and solving...

    An Interesting PHP Problem...

Well, I'm already using strip_tags until I find a real solution to the problem. (arden, this is essentially what strip_tags solves). But my problem isn't getting rid of the tags. The problem is getting the first 400 characters of a string and making sure that no HTML was messed up in the...

How does this look to you guys?

I really like your design! Quite nice! Only thing I noticed (besides the skew to the right) was that the Last Updated thing in the upper-right seems like it should have some space between itself and the edge of the main box. I'm not a big fan of designing with tables...CSS is a little...

Views On ma site, if you will?!

Very nice! I'm a big fan of graffiti...In fact, I got in trouble for it once, but that's another story... A agree that the links at the side didn't even look like links until I examined them...They fade into the black a little too fast. A rollover would indeed be great here. I also agree...

    An Interesting PHP Problem...

I've been looking around the web and thinking about it, but I can't find the solution, though I know it's there somewhere. Here's the problem. I've got a string, and let's say it contains the contents of an article on the site. I want to generate a preview of the article by getting the...

    What the crap is XSL?

XSL is an XML language that takes an input XML document and turns it into another format. Sometimes it turns it into another XML document, but I've seen it used to generate PDF files and more. Let's say you have an XML document with tags that list a bunch of recipes. You could use XSL to...

Check out the PHP DN, a network of unified sites that cover different aspects of PHP. http://www.devnetwork.net/ There's even a Mac-specific PHP site. I also visit http://www.phppatterns.com/ on a regular basis. It's an awesome site on using patterns and object-oriented programming in PHP...

Wow, thanks! I appreciate your compliments! I agree with you on the hover box. I was just wondering what it'd look like, so I threw it in. It's been tentative since the beginning, and I was getting ready to scrap it when I got your email. :p

Actually, Safari v73 was officially released as a public beta. Safari v74 came right after it, so you might have missed v73. I haven't upgraded due to laziness, and the fact that I don't find myself using SSL sites all that often.

    Site Design

Thanks for the kind feedback! Yep, it's all CSS. I was lucky...CSS2 came out in browsers just as I was learning about table-based layout. Glad I didn't get too into that, or there'd be some bad habits to break. As far as the menu flickering, that's a little odd. I'm using Safari v73...

Hey everyone...Just working on some possible designs for a website I'm developing. What do you think of this one? http://dris.webhop.org/test.html The guy in the background is my brother, not me. :P Anyways, I've tested it only in Safari, IE/Mac, and Netscape. Netscape was the...

Yeah, that's a Safari-specific bug (doesn't yet support max-width in CSS). I'm just about to fix it though.

Check out the design for my personal webserver: Dristoph Personal Server Still under construction. So far, it works in Mozilla, Netscape, Camino, and Safari. Internet Explorer breaks the page for reasons beyond my grasp. All of it is XHTML 1.1 Strict and CSS2. What do you think?

    Reconfiguring Cable Modem

Well, his computer is a PC, which complicates matters, because I'm not wise in the ways of Windows. Our ISP requires DCHP. It provides the IP addresses and such. The problem is, I'm getting an IP address that's obviously not from the ISP. I just don't know how to un-configure the router...
