    Whatcha Think?

Alrighty, http://dris.drischris.com/xslt/handler.php I slimmed down the navbar as needed, and replaced that vile green color. I think it looks a lot better now, but you can be the judge of that. And if you want to see a more working version of the site, go to http://dris.drischris.com/ All...

    Whatcha Think?

Heh, I actually kinda like the colors, but I guess that's just a matter of personal taste. So it's a good thing it's gonna be skinnable. ;) The frame is there only because we're temporarily using NameZero's service, and that frame is from them. It won't be there in the final version, as...

    Another whatcha think thread...

Hey, yeah! I never thought of that, mostly because I never use Flash. But your site seems like a natural candidate for a Flash version.

    Web pop-unders... What's the point?

My problem is that I don't just let the window sit there. I close it, because it consumes memory, and my screen is often cluttered enough as is. So it's just more annoying to move the top window just to get to the stupid ad under it. And even if I do ever find an ad interesting, I don't click...

    Whatcha Think?

A site I'm helping on. http://dris.drischris.com/XSLT/handler.php I know the links aren't connected and all that. It's just a test page I made while figuring out XSLT. The final site will be fully skinnable...This is just one sample skin I made for testing purposes. It's tested in Internet...

    so far?

Actually, I can't help but disagree. I see it as a creative endeavor to make sites with as few images as possible and yet remain visually pleasing. There are lots of cool things you can even do with a little typography. Heck, I've seen sites that turned out pretty nifty with an ASCII art...

    Is it so wrong?!

Sometimes I find that when I'm trying to duplicate another artist's style, I end up twisting it in my own way unintentionally, and it's not their style anymore. Try it, see what happens!

    apples tabbed website theme

For the love of all that is holy and the sake of all that breathes, don't do yet *another* Apple rip-off tabbed layout thingamajiggy with Aqua shinies all over the place! Sorry, a bit of venting. But really, that's probably the Internet's most ripped-off site design. And there are so many...

    Web pop-unders... What's the point?

I agree, dude. They have no point. Advertising only exists these days not to advertise, but to take up your time. It loses its effect. I've even seen crap that uses some DHTML to float ads over the content of the page (not a window, so you can't get rid of it). Sigh... The other day I was...

    Another whatcha think thread...

Heh, I like the opening options...And your "pain" story...Nicely illustrated. I think I can relate ;) . The site itself is nicely laid out and such. I have only one little piece of advice...That would be to learn CSS. I used to lay everything out in tables before, but no longer. Once I...

    Icon Order

Howdy. I'm having a problem with my icons in the root of my hard drive. I put them where I want them, but everytime the Finder is relaunched, I log out, or restart, they go back to the messed up order. Anyone know what's up here? Thanks.

    Small Sockets

I figured I'd have to do something like that, but I know nothing about threads. I'll look for some tutorials, but if anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks for the advice.

    Style Mask

I got it figured out! If anyone else needs to do it, it's not too tough. Just subclass NSWindow (or NSPanel, depending on what you want), set your IB window to be that class, and use the following code in its implementation: - (id)initWithContentRect:(NSRect)contentRect...

    Style Mask

Howdy, I'm having a problem with an application I'm writing in Cocoa. I have a window instantiated in Interface Builder that I display as needed. The problem is, I need its style mask to be NSBorderlessWindowMask, but the style mask can only be set when the window is initialized. How can I...

    Small Sockets

Howdy, I'm currently working on a project that uses Small Sockets. I looked over the "Test Application" that came with it, but it seems that it sits in a loop and awaits all data until the server disconnects. What I'm needing is a continuous server connection that checks for data as it comes...

    What Languages Do YOU Know?

Well, HyperTalk wasn't the best example...How about Robocode? Yeah, I think that one's probably pretty unknown to the majority. Anybody heard of that? Then there's languages we've all heard of, know, but forgot about...Like Logo...LoL...
