Icon Order

Dris

The Benevolent
Howdy. I'm having a problem with my icons in the root of my hard drive. I put them where I want them, but everytime the Finder is relaunched, I log out, or restart, they go back to the messed up order. Anyone know what's up here? Thanks.

I think he means where you go when you click on the computer icon in the finder pretty sure thats called /volumes but yeah i have been having the same problem all my stuff gets all out of wack seemingly at random times, i turned on snap to grid so it seems to be staying in place now.

An easy fix is go to the folder you are having trouble with and hit command-j to open the view options then select for this window only then say keep arranged then select how you want them arranged. Easy as pie ... for a quick fix

Not always...sometimes all the .DS_store-files change ownership, and the icons get messed up all the time. The fix:
in terminal:
sudo find / -name .DS_Store -exec chown username:wheel {} \;

NOTE: Replace username with your computer's username (i.e., the name of your home folder). Make sure there is a space between the {} and the \;

I've posted this earlier, and I have had to do it on my comp several times (OSXPM screws them up sometimes...)

You may have to apply that from time to time if something messes up with them... I'm considering on mailin osxgnu.org's developers on the subject (OSXPM messing with permissions)

Hehe, I love the new look:) And the Quick reply box, reminds me of Baseboard:)
