By force-quitting, or using the quit menu via TinkerTool, you can quit the finder. However, it always relaunches a few seconds afterwards. I want to try quitting the Finder for good and launching apps from the Dock to speed up performance (in games and such)... how can I keep the Finder quit?

so it installs on the second partition... i belive at the moment i have 2, one with OS X and one with 9... but will i lose OS 9?

well, iChat only allows one "you" per account. so, you will have to make two OS X accounts for two people to be able to use iChat. Or one of you can just use AIM... which I have switched back to, for its features.

I reinstalled Jaguar, and its running fine now. The Finder was completely gone... it would occasionally seem to attempt to launch itself, and then fail (i could watch it in the "force quit" menu). a word to the wise- unless you are the master of OS X, or god himself, do NOT mess with MetamorphX!

There is a "You" card, but i think Apple needs to do a bit more work on the relationship between iChat and Address Book... and add a profile!

Does anybody really think this is worth it? I must say that I love my mac.com email address, and letting it go will be huge wrench. But I can get everything else for free, just without the style and elegance. Style and elegance is not worth 99 in my humble opinion. Alex
