How to create email newsletter in DreamWeaver

That's helpful, thank you. I've located a couple of server side cgi/PERL scripts that should do the job. I have a small list of a few hundred, all of whom I know personally and who will be glad to get the news update. We can do it in plain email but some pictures and graphic content will help...

How to create email newsletter in DreamWeaver

I'm experimenting with a html email newsletter (styled text, graphics etc in a layout but sent out to a list as an email). Can I put this together in DW? What do I need to change or amend for it to appear correctly in an email client? Can I use layers or should I stick to tables? My first...

How to put up a file for download

Thanks, mdnky. Then if they want to download direct from the site you just give the file a hyperlink? So you don't go for a ftp link? I was thinking of graphics files that could be 1 Mb or so

How to put up a file for download

Could someone tell me the easiest way for people to access and download a file from a site? What is the best procedure in putting it up? I'll be using Dreamweaver

    Dreamweaver -- importing pages

Will try both of these suggestions, thanks

    Dreamweaver -- importing pages

I had a folder consisting of 4 .html pages, images, index etc -- a mini site -- that I wanted to include in Dreamweaver site. Most basic methods of moving content like copying/pasting/dragging are not allowed in the DreamWeaver environment. I can open the .htmls and Save As to the main site, but...

What's the wisdom on OpenType and TrueDoc?

Not main titles. I agree main titles are best done as graphics. There is a particular look on the page I am after here and this is down to body text and sub titles

What's the wisdom on OpenType and TrueDoc?

I've done a bit of research on embedding fonts, using the Windows .eot approach or alternatively the BitStream TrueDoc method. Can be done but drawbacks because certain browsers don't support one or other. I don't find many people using Netscape now, and probably not many Mac users use Mac...

    Rubber tables

Well, that's my vacation reading plan all set up then :8-) Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Not sure how this meets my need of being able to do frequent, fast changes of content and layout, rather than working up a good design that will endure, but I need to get my skill level on...

    Rubber tables

Sonjay writes: "Based on what I've seen, I don't think you're ready to tackle tableless design (no offense intended), but if you decide to really get into hand-coding, you might want to investigate it. It's definitely the future of Web design." Pretty mild comment based on what you've seen...

    Rubber tables

Thanks, Sonjay. Two good answers for me here: (1) clean up the code and do it carefully -- which I obviously didn't 'cos you found a percentage width still in there; and (2) nested tables would be more reliable. Now (to keep this excellent thread going), what did mdnky mean by going for a...

    Rubber tables

Sonjay writes: "Hey, Greiggy, we've veered off your original question here, and you said you've got layers working to do what you want. Would you let us take a look at what you've got? If you'd rather not, that's fine too. I still think my suggestion of nested tables would work -- I played...

    Spacing paras/list items less crudely

Sonjay writes: "Or if you applied the bodyMssg style to the table cell, as I suggested earlier, you could apply the other style to the paragraphs individually inside the cell. They'll inherit all the declarations from bodyMssg, and add the style(s) in the second style." Reckon that's the...

    Rubber tables

My problem was that assigning percentages e.g. 70% and 30% doesn't seem to work. There is no graphic content in this particular table. I would expect the larger table to occupy around three quarters of the width and the narrower one around a quarter or so, but I have fouind it's completely...

    Spacing paras/list items less crudely

Now I'm learning to use the line-height and margin-bottom declarations it will make a huge difference to the typo effect. I think TWW is a great example of how simple elements can be used powerfully to produce a very clean page. BTW I discovered that margin-bottom has a default which is a...

    Breaking out of Verdana/Georgia

I agree about Verdana and Georgia. And we need some more commissioned! (Whtever happened to Minion?) So, Sonjay, howdya get Tropical Web Works looking so good then?

    Spacing paras/list items less crudely

Thanks, Sonjay. A lot I can work with there. The BodyGold isn't used on that page -- probably a carryover because I tend to dup. pages rather than start afresh, for speed. I repent of that! I agree with your comment that quick and dirty is not always particularly quick. I think the challenge...

    Spacing paras/list items less crudely

Living dangerously here! Here's a link so you can see it on the page. Just remember I'm not a webdesigner! Done with my left hand and always against deadlines. http://www.shinfield-baptist.org.uk/RECENT_WEEKLY_CONTENT/JULY%2004/4th_July_04_mssg.html

    Spacing paras/list items less crudely

Hi Sonjay, Thanks for very helpful input. Yes I do know about ol and li but hadn't thought of applying styles to them in the way you suggest. I think we are a little at cross-purposes: I don't hand-code this copy as I work under strict time limitations. Example is taken from a published...

    Breaking out of Verdana/Georgia

Every so often one sees really nice typography on a site. I believe there's a way of embedding fonts to break out of the straitjacket of 4 or 5 that are common between Mac and Wintel. How do you do it?
