    If you're running an Intel mac a video driver isn't going to let you run PPC apps anyway. Video drivers have nothing to do with why you cant run PPC stuff. Apple dropped support for PPC code with Leopard.

    Goto ~/Library/Preferences and move the file com.apple.desktop.plist to the desktop. Restart. The system will build a new one. It should work then.     You might try iFFmpeg. It's not free though. Or possibly Mpeg Streamclip. Check your settings in Handbrake. Maybe you can improve the quality.     Sounds like the recovery partition. It's normal, although it shouldn't have shown up on the desktop like that. Probably just a glitch. Not something you want to mess with as you might need it someday.

    Trying to install but get this error...

    You do have the Developer tools installed, right? dselect installs binaries. So does Fink Commander if you press the right button. You need the developer tools to install from source.

    Possible fix? Cntrl(right) click on it, the drop-down menu should have "Hide package contents" or something similar. In OS 9 right now so can't verify.

    Safari is ok but when I go to a forum Camino (and Netscape under os 9) will automatically fill in my name and password. When Safari can do that I might switch. I do like the idea of Safari-like bookmarks tho. Never did like sidebars.

    If you're installing the latest version of Fink, just pick where you want to install. It can be on any partition or drive, the installer will automatically put the link to /sw in root. Also, you might want to look into an app called Fink Commander. A GUI frontend to Fink.
