    Viruses On Os X

I didn't understand that. May I have the English version, please?

    Safari keeps crashing

You tell me. It was a question. I'm trying to get you to think laterally. Chances are that nobody here can guess the cause of your problem but we can make you think about the possibilities.

    Anti-Spyware for OSX?

Did anyone mention that there is, to date, no "Spyware" for the Mac? So, by definition, there is no "antispyware" for the Mac. That answers the original question. And you can be certain that, should any Spy loophole become evident, Apple will be quick to issue a security update. Unlike...

Just switched to Mac after 20 years of Windows HELL!

Be aware that OSX is excellent but not perfect and you *will* get problems. Read about "repairing permissions". I do this routine before and after installing anything and seldom get problems. Leave your Mac switched ON overnight (at least once a week) so it can run its "housekeeping" jobs. Get...

    Help with Mail

Just a point to note - in case you aren't aware. If you add features such as background texture, smilies and coloured text, your mail will be sent in the form of an HTML web page with attached image files. This is fine for sending to friends who like this "eye candy" (but it will eat up your...

    alternative power supply for imac

As the UPS has batteries inside, all you need to do is ensure that they have adequate capacity for the time you need to run without mains power. You might even be able to connect your 12 volt battery across them (with a suitable diode to prevent reverse current from flowing). Driving a UPS with...

    Print error

I've used Printer Setup Repair but I thought it was only for Panther? Maybe I'd better look again in case I need it.

    Horrors of the Dock

Please don't run "virus scan". There aren't any OSX virii so scanning is likely to do more harm than good. I set my dock to the right and make it very small. It's fairly unobtrusive there and seldom gets in the way.

Installer not working on new software I have purchased

Ah, well you already have iTunes so you don't need that. And the iPod software installer is built into iTunes so you don't need that CD either! Simply connect the iPod and it should work. You may be given the option to install new software via the Internet.

    Quicksilver crashing on launch

I rather looks as if a clean install might be the quickest answer.

IF ANYONE'S ONLINE... easy for you to answer?

You can install OS9.2.2 without affecting OSX. In fact I simply dragged and dropped an OS9 System Folder from another Mac into my G4 tower and it worked as Classic! (Not recommended but I had my reasons - related to a Sonnet CPU upgrade).

    Safari keeps crashing

Probably because you are still running Panther and not Tiger?

    Print error

Delete the problematic file from the print queue and try printing something else. Always state your hardware and OS version (just in case it matters).

    Security Update

Yes, I installed it on my G4 towers and it doesn't do that. Did you "Repair Permissons" before and after installing the update? Try doing it now.

    Help with Help

If you can get it launched, click on "Help Viewer" in the menu bar and make sure that "Include Product Support Searches" is not ticked (checked). Not sure if this will help!

. . All Icons have black frame around them suddenly.

When you click on a desktop icon it should acquire a faint white square outline with the background slightly darker. I assume, from your description, that this is not what you are seeing? You could try using Disk Warrior to rebuild the desktop database. It's unlikely that I can help further...

Installer not working on new software I have purchased

She already repaired permissions. It is a point worth emphasizing, however, that Repair Permissions should be carried out before and after installing anything. But start by rebooting the computer as this fixes a multitude of problems. If rebooting doesn't help, I'd be tempted to drag anything...
