Might be overheating. Try usign it on a hard table and a soft pillow and see if it makes the noise on the pillow but not the table.

In most programs the backspace key functions as the delete key and vice versa, except in word processors. I don't know that shortcut yet but i would be very happy to as this comes in handy alot.

You are obviously using a CRT but i know of no program that lets you do that. OSX has display preferences in the display control panel but i don't know what it offers.
