there's a niggling feeling in the back of my head that just seems to feel that leopard wasn't really designed with PPC macs in mind... it works, it works fine, but my dual G5, it felt like Tiger unlocked it's potential, where as leopard seems to have passed it over into feeling a bit obsolete...

i'm guessing no-one rebooted yet... "Starting Mac OS" screen is gone. it now goes from grey Apple, to blue screen, to desktop. to be honest, after Tiger's arbitrary "Starting Mac OS X" with a blue bar filling almost too rapidly to see, i'm guessing they thought it wasn't needed any more.

dunno if this is compatibility, but has anyone got .ai (adobe illustrator) plug-in for quick look yet?

it's better now, but not great. it just drops the connection a lot. i'm on a pretty cheap bundled router, but preleopard, it was solid. i've spotlight-ed everywhere for it, and googled tons, but it appears that they've removed the feature quietly.

nah, it's the leopard dock, with a different 'skin' as it were. if you put your dock on the side of the screen, this is what it'd look like. all leopard functionality remains.

Airport. sorry to keep harping on, but it's still 'broken'. they've removed the interference robustness from the preferences in your airport menu, for no apparent reason. turns out it was the glue that kept my powermac on the wifi.

Thank the Cheese: I'm not happy cos it's broken my AirPort connection! turns out, my delicate connection to my airport network was held together by the Interference Robustness in OSX. for no apparent reason, it's not absent in Leopard. other than that, it works fine, is snappy and pretty...

i can't seem to find AirPort interface robustness in leopard. which is crap, as it's the only way my Powermac will pick up a decent signal.... (the signal has to pass through pretty much the entire length of the 2-foot aluminium and interference case....) i hope it's something simple to fix

max it out. never have to worry again. if you don't this time, then you'll feel bad chucking away perfectly good but useless ram when you have to replace it.

yes, ram on an ibook is very, very easy. go to www.crucial.com and have them direct you to your required purchase, and be sure to buy 512mb, if not 1gb. the difference should be astounding. with this much ram, you will now be able to have an almost unlimited amount of full programs all open...

hmm it's pretty old technology... i'll try though. how good are apple stores for helping without charging? i may have already spent £35, i do'nt want to spend that again for them to tell me that it's broken...

damn. there's no possible movement, so it's in properly, antenna's in, all the firmware is up to date, it's got the latest airport software in it, i've restarted... it's a brand new airport card... all that leaves is a duff airport connector in the ibook...

how can i update the firmware? also, ebay... :(

ok using airport set-up, 'no airport card was detected'... it's as firm as i can push it in... what can i try? i've reset the PRAM a few times already...

yea but you can't buy the upgrade. it's only for special cases.
