    End of Classic?

Waiting for: - optimisation in OS X for lower-end Macs (yeah right) - DreamWeaver - Decent Flash - Software studio / sequencer music apps

Now is the time to stop acting passively...

:D What about people using music apps? When / if the big players deliver OS X-native versions of apps like Cubase, Pro Tools, etc., they'll be awesome. But there's no sign yet, bar something from Emagic next year (those efficient Germans!) So some of us won't be going to OS X just yet...

Looking for a GREAT Email pgm for OSX

You only have to look at the Eudora site for A FEW MINUTES and... http://www.eudora.com/betas/ There ya go.

    HARDWARE-THAT WON'T WORK WITH X

Although drivers are in progress apparently. I second the OpenGL acceleration for ATI Rage Pro cards ;)

Looking for a GREAT Email pgm for OSX

There's an OS X beta at http://www.eudora.com, and it's not a first cut, so may be half decent? -- http://www.benpoole.com

Herve is mad. It should be in the FAQ I guess. ;)

    entourage vs. mail.app

... use dit for years. And it has an address book that syncs with my Palm. Or at least in OS 8.6 it does -- anyone know if the Mac OS X version supports this? I don't have OS X yet ;)

    Native FTP program?

Agree 100% with Javintosh. I got tired of being taken to the cleaners every time Interarchy decided to download its latest version, and then start demanding money all over again... I've already paid once for Anarchie, and once for Interarchy -- I'm not going to pay again for version 5...

    God I Want a Power Mac G5!

Heh. My Mac Classic 4/40 and StyleWriter II are sitting in my loft. And my revision B 233MHz iMac (256MB RAM) sits in my office. So :p to all of ya! I have a half-decent job, but I also have a growing family. No way I can justify to the "finance committee" (wife) buying a second-hand G4...

    Windows XP name

Apparently "XP" constitutes a symbol for Christ / Christianity, as X and P are the first two letters in ancient Greek for Christ. ** Now, this does make sense: // TYPICAL WORK DAY SCENARIO // "OK, I'll just fire up Windows, and... CHRIST!!!" Ahem. I thank you. ** - Per...

any news group app multiple server combine to form more ocmplete group

Heh heh. But as buggs1a days, Usenet would become a hell of a lot more useful if you could trawl multiple servers to ensure you get the full thread of something. The fact that I had to rely on various UK-based ISPs' news feeds to get the information I wanted is why I stopped using Usenet...

any news group app multiple server combine to form more ocmplete group

Damn, that must be a hot picture you're trying to get a hold of! Usenet seems to me about as useful as AOL. I used Usenet apps in UNIX then on my System 7 Mac (NewsHopper) for a while, before realising that news reading is a nightmare on a number of counts: - Mac software like NewsHopper...

Time to move or still with 9?

I'm still on OS 8.6. Do I win a prize? I have a rev B Bondi iMac with 256MB RAM. No idea how OS X will cope with it, and in any case, until I have: - drivers for my Umax USB scanner AND; - OpenGL drivers for the ATI RagePro that comes in early iMacs ... there's no point in my moving to...

    OS X scanner drivers

There was a thread on this a while back, and I posted a response I got from Umax -- search under my name or something to find that. I have a Umax Astra 1220U, i.e. a USB scanner, and was told by Umax support in the US that they were working on Mac OS X drivers. Umax support in the UK are...

    UMAX Doesn't Support OS X!

Umax told me they WERE developing OS X drivers -- do a search for my posts (there aren't many!) and you'll see exactly what they told me in another thread re Umax scanners and OS X. Ta ta

    Graphics Support in OS X

How about some proper graphics support in OS X for those with older ATI cards? ATI have said they won't deliver drivers for OS X -- which is great of them -- so how about if Apple do? There's a big PowerMac, iMac and PowerBook userbase out there who will have no openGL / 2D acceleration if...

    OsX on a 333mhz imac?

These Macs use the old ATI Rage Pro graphics cards, so graphics performance in OS X won't be great (no OpenGL drivers for these cards). I don't know if / how that affects your decision. Until someone gives an answer to this, I'm holding off upgrading! Ben

Umax Astra Scanner support in OS X?

I got this response from the US support guys at Umax, seeing as the UK guys have been ignoring me, and their site doesn't work. Good news? >>> OS X drivers are currently under development. Please continue to check http://www.umax.com for further releases. Please contact technical support...
