    10.1.1 update logic stinks!

Hell, I could even rename applications! I'd hate to think what would happen if I did that with Mail.app. I might as well put a bullet in my head.

    10.1.1 update logic stinks!

Good grief Apple, your update mechanism SUCKS! What, I can't move Mail.app into another directory without everything going haywire?! There used to be a time when file and folder location didn't matter. I could put the system folder wherever, I could move my applications wherever, I could...

X on OSX with dual monitors

The problem with xinerama is few window managers are xinerama aware, and most that are have crappy xinerama support. When you run a window manager which isn't xinerama aware or run one with crappy xinerama support (or don't run one), X11 apps can end up drawing in areas which don't exist. This...

X on OSX with dual monitors

I've always said Terminal.app sucks ass, nothing to admit there. I've been thinking of porting Better Telnet to Mac OS X for this reason.

X on OSX with dual monitors

The problem with oroborOSX is it tries to immitate the Aqua appearance when X11 apps can never behave like mac apps. I have yet to find a window manager to complement xinerama. I think it's partly due to the way XDarwin currently sets up coordinates where the origin is always in the leftmost...

    Terminal and 8-bit chars

This has been mentioned a few million times in the past so I wouldn't hold my breath. I've been considering porting Better Telnet to OS X as an alternative terminal. It has better terminal emulation and I prefer Carbon apps. You can also try running X11 terminals like xterm and rxvt. They...

    Best pc emulator.

I run Debian in VirtualPC and use XDarwin to display graphics. This allows me to run wine which is often better than running Win98 in VirtualPC. VPC in OS X is definitely slow however, probably because they are using the old event manager code instead of Carbon events. I think I'll try to...

Renaming "Apple" applications in OS X

Everybody should complain to Apple that Mac OS X is inferior to MacOS in this regard. In MacOS the proper method to find an application (to upgrade or launch it) is to look it up by it's creator code, NOT it's location or name!
