Creative thread: What can I do with a Mac mini Server ?

It definitely seems as it could be a great server for a home network, espcially with how simple OS X Server has been with the management tools. If you need something beefier than that, you can always opt for the Xserves. But for home or small office, I think this is a nice and affordable...

12% of American Households own Mac

I've got two Macs (Quadra 650 and iMac G5) and a good number of PCs. But then I probably don't count as the "average household." :p

    Left or right?

LOL! ACtually, I had to do this some years ago when I broke my pinky knuckle. I've actually tried to wash my hair while brushing my teeth at the same time. Fruitless, don't try it. :p

    Left or right?

I am right-handed, but I have done some things with my left hand that most righties don't do (behave now! :p). I've used a mouse with both hands. As a matter of fact, I actually have two computers and since I don't have a KVM switch, I have the mouse for each on either side of the keyboards...

iMac G3/400 DV (Slot Loading - Fruit) Ram? PLEASE HELP!!

I would say stay away from no-name brands....it's pretty much at your own risk. You could use the PC brands like Mushkin, Corsair, or OCZ. I actually installed PNY RAM on my iMac G5 and it's been fine since. You don't really have to go the Kingston route, but they are well known for their...

Dual 867 G5 hangs on startup

I imagine you meant G4 and not G5. ;) You never mentioned what OS it was running before this happened. Did you try and upgrade from the previous Mac OS that it was running? We need to know a little more about what took place before this started happening.

    GNU-Darwing on a MacBook?

Have you looked at Ubuntu? AFAIK, Ubuntu supports EFI. I believe that Debian "Lenny" supports it too, but I'm not 100% sure. Fedora should support EFI firmware systems as well.

Werid AIM Issue w/ Friends on Macs?? Help!

Have your Mac-using friends made sure that they are running the latest version of Adium? Adium also has the ability to make one "invisible" on all protocols that support it. Could it be that maybe they are not aware that they (or at least their AIM account) is set to this?

    No words on Facebook's Farmtown

I have to admit that I've been suckered into FarmVille on FB by my wife. :p That app in particular requires Adobe Flash, so I'm assuming the same goes for FarmTown (which I'm guessing is similar to FarmVille). Make sure you download the latest version of Adobe Flash for the Mac (I believe it's...

    garageband

If your Mac (whichever Mac that might be considering you didn't provide any details) meets the requirements for the latest version of GarageBand, then yes, you can run it. If not, then no, you cannot.

Is boot camp a free ware ?

If it's the full retail version, then the transfer should be possible. However, OEM versions require a Certificate of Authority sticker for be legally licensed and once used are non-transferable. Just some extra info there just in case. ;)

Logging in on Macs on a school network

If you're talking about integrating them to an Active Directory domain, you would need to bind them to the Active Directory using Directory Assistant. Once you've done that, you should be able to use the domain login accounts to login to the Macs. This page on the Bombich Software website...

Lost without my mac - please help!

Yeah, for a little more money you could just purchase one of those earlier generation iMacs listed there. I've actually considered that myself even though my iMac G5 is still running. Something like the 2nd generation iMac, which came with a Conroe Core 2 Duo if I'm not mistaken, would be more...

Lost without my mac - please help!

Try what Satcomer suggested, but I fear that the issue is more likely what Jesse714 mentioned because it happened with my iMac G5. Apple used to have a repair extension program for the bad capacitor issue that affected the logic board and power supply not just for the Rev A iMac G5 models, but...
