Dual 867 G5 hangs on startup

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

I have a Dual 1.8Ghz G5 that hangs on startup, right at the grey screen, the pinwheel will freeze.

I have tried:
- Resetting pram and nvram
- Starting from the install CD with the HD disconnected
neither of which worked.

Oddly enough, it will start and run the apple hardware check CD, and an advanced check reports everything as OK.

Any suggestions?

I imagine you meant G4 and not G5. ;)

You never mentioned what OS it was running before this happened. Did you try and upgrade from the previous Mac OS that it was running? We need to know a little more about what took place before this started happening.
