 Got it working. I hadn't put the UT OS X app into the installed UT folder, so I guess it didn't know where it was and was either running off the disc image, or failing to find it altogether. Anyway, it works now :D Jim

Same here. Even with UTX preview 2 and Mac OS X 10.1.3 I get that error. Anyone know what causes it?

Same here (G4 Cube 450). HD was still churning, so I left it until it stopped, then rebooted. Seems to be fine since. Jim

    20Gb in iPod?

It's my understanding that the 20Gb drive is thicker than the 5 and 10GB version, so probably won't fit. Jim

    Palm 5 OS!

StrongARM is an implementation of the ARM architecture manufactured by Intel. Other ARM processor implementations are available from most of the major semiconductor manufacturers in the world (see http://www.arm.com/arm/semicon_partners?OpenDocument). The DragonBall processors currently...

    Palm 5 OS!

Laptop processor power consumption is still measured in Watts. PDA processor power consumption is often measured in milli-Watts. I heard that the energy density of a mobile phone battery these days is close to that of dynamite. Do you really want more? :D Of course it could all...

    Apple & Radiation

A CRT monitor works by firing a beam of electrons through a vacuum at a pattern of phosphor dots on the inside of the tube. It uses big magnets that deflect the beam, to make up the image on the screen. So, you have fairly large magnetic fields, high voltages, the odd stray electron or two...

    Something doesn't add up...

http://www.apple.com/powermac/specs.html That Photoshop performance chart suggests that a dual 1GHz PMG4 is only 13% faster than a Single CPU 933MHz PMG4 - ie, by no more than the difference in CPU speed (what's the 2nd processor doing?)... Or does this just show that the speed of the...

    New ghz PowerMacs next Tuesday...

www.mosr.com has what someone claims to be the new G4 specs, cut and pasted from the depths of one of Apple's websites. Nothing particularly new, oh except perhaps for the NVidia Geforce4 bit... ;) Jim

Connecting two iMacs & a cable modem

I didn't have to look far: http://www.unibrain.com/products/ieee-1394/firenet.htm I strongly suspect it's possible to do this without any extra software. I hate to say it, but under windows, it's relatively straight forward... HTH, Jim

Connecting two iMacs & a cable modem

I don't think you'd even need a Firewire <-> ethernet adapter - you could just connect the two machines with a cable, and establish a TCP/IP connection between them. I guess you'd need to be familar with ifconfig and a few other UNIXy things to get it working. I'm sure I've seen a webpage...

Connecting two iMacs & a cable modem

Here's another alternative - you could do NAT routing on the 1st machine, and connect the second machine via USB or Firewire. There are USB <-> ethernet converters out there, and I think you might even be able to setup a network link by just connecting from one USB/Firewire port to the other...

Connecting two iMacs & a cable modem

Hang on, to do NAT with just a hub, surely you need to have 2 ethernet ports on the machine doing the routing? ie. the ISP network is connected to one port, and the machine routes to the second port which is connected to the 2nd machine/hub. Perhaps I'm missing something, but otherwise what's...

Connecting two iMacs & a cable modem

Kinniken, buy it from the UK. I bought my BEFSR41, which works a treat, from buy.com They want a tad more than $100 (£83.36 - about €135) though. However, if you go to: http://www.gb.buy.com/thankyou you can get an extra £10 off (~€120)... There may be cheaper places - eg...

    What are the chances of...?

Possibly not for a while, certainly. btw, has anyone else noticed that the ALT tags for the iMac picture in the UK Apple Store says "iMac P80 Family"? I thought the US Apple store was the same, but this morning it says "iMac G4 Family"... Jim

    What are the chances of...?

I wonder if Apple has plans for a higher end version of the iMac with a 17" panel, faster G4 (maybe even two), bigger HD etc...? Or maybe even a differentiation within the range - like the new iBook... Jim
