It is very bad for your LCD screen to be on whilst lid is closed. If you're after a mode where LCD is off and Mac stays on then cool. Otherwise I'd give your screen 3 months then it would die. Apple tries hard to keep laptops silent so they produce a lot of heat, the heat will slowly destroy...

yes i had the same prob, once i was able to switch the res back blind! the other time (don;t ask) had to reformat HD!!! UFS install. OS 9 can;t see it! ah

There is a very good French website for all that stuff. Search Google for: firmware mac dvd region free multi hack that should help. Don't do it though, risk buggering your entire Mac and voids warrantee. Alex

By the way that website is lying a bit. Yes there are different standards of DVD-R (as far as buying them I've only ever found 4.7GB General.) THESE DVD-Rs are the disks that play in 99% of players. DVD+RW and DVD+R is a little bit more complicated and basically wont run in any DVD players...

Information for you all: To start with, MacDoobie even if you did have a SuperDrive you can only use DVD-R or DVD-RW discs, not DVD+R and DVD+RW. Secondly if you have the first ever SuperDrive and you're running a recent version of OS X, the built in apps can do DVD-RW burning, I do it...
