Yes! Thank you hazmat!

By the way that website is lying a bit. Yes there are different standards of DVD-R (as far as buying them I've only ever found 4.7GB General.)

THESE DVD-Rs are the disks that play in 99% of players. DVD+RW and DVD+R is a little bit more complicated and basically wont run in any DVD players but new Sony's and Phillip's. That's why, thank God, that Apple opted for Pioneers pioneering DVD Burning drives.

Be very happy that you have a DVD-R drive and not a DVD+R.

If you're wondering why and how I know this I don't this is from an Apple Software Engineer from Apple Australia. So there. That site is just propaganda. Try to find a neutral site.

Very true.....that link is maintained by the dvddplusr.org forum - so a pinch of salt is required, when reading that.

I did find it interesting, that it said that Sony is part of the +R alliance....even though their latest systems use the Pioneer DVD-R drive! *laughs*

I think the official site is http://www.dvdrw.org - notice the link on the right, saying how the DVD+R is not offically support / created by them.

There seems to be a very solid feeling between those who have used the Dvd+R drives....when they eventually upgrade/change to the DVD-R, they seem to become loyalists (for -RW). This is from my experience, atleast.

HP did have their DVD100 drive, which only wrote +RW (they assumed that when the +R technology would come out, it would be a matter of a firmware upgrade). Unfortunately, this wasn't so, and they had an offer, where you would send in your 100, plus $99US and get the ability to write +R and +RW disks. They now have a lawsuit on their hands, I believe. *l*
