I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 model with the aluminium casing. Today I found that all four screws on the underside at the back, beneath the hinge on the lid, were loose. One had come out far enough to catch on a finger, which is what highlighted it. So check the bottom is screwed on!!

I can't help with this problem, but the fault seems similar to the problem with my wife's iPhone 5. Her's dies when the battery level shows 37%. Cuts out. Then you can put it on charge and it turns on after a minute or two with the battery showing 5%, which I think is normal for a flat...

Have a look at the Elisabeth Smith CDs. Very simple and straightforward for a quick start in a language. Very good for a holiday. And before using a serious longer course. May be enough if you are staying in bigger hotels where there is often someone who can speak or help with English...

I've tried extra cooling on unreliable discs, but it hasn't worked. I have split my stuff on a bigger disc into a lot of sub folders while I could - while the disc worked. Then copied them off one at a time. If you make the subfolders small enough, you can be luck and get a whole one off...
