Well, here's a heck of a thing. Log into Workgroup Manager as the short name, not the long name, and I can make a new sharepoint. As in, user of admin, not administrator. Maybe someday this record will solve someone else's problem.

Bump. A google search on this EXACT same problem led me here, so I registered just to see if anyone knows what to kick for this situation. Anyone?
