    Right Mouse Button in OSX

I think the only mouse that supports a right mouse button without installing additional software is the Mighty Mouse by Apple. I'm about 99% sure that when you install some kind of driver software (like USB Overdrive as one example) that it will work again

Downgrading For Mac Os 10.3 to Mac Os 9.2

Have you tried setting a different resolution and color depth in the monitor controls? You can find the link to it when you click on the icon next to the Finder in the Dock

Install Mac OSX without internal CD drive?

I'd say: eBay. Every now and then people sell their old Macs in parts as something is broken and they don't deem it worth repair. You could search there for a CD drive. Would be the best move IMO if you want to further use the iBook

    Security Update 2005-007

I installed this last night when it came available, no problems during, before or after installation. At least so far... ;) I repaired permissions before and after though, just in case

Hd Upgrade / Relocating Application Folder to 2nd Drive

Hm, I must confess that I never thought about or tried to relocate the Apps folder, but thinking about it... I think you could try to just copy the folder to your desired location, create an alias of the folder in the new place and place it where the original folder was. Basically, I think...

Now that is late: Halo Demo

I tried maxing out the settings both inside and 'outside' the game (in the dialog before the game starts), and I must say it's pretty suprising good. Could be smoother, but ok. Still, on the PC at my parents place it looks more precious... :( Must be because of their RADEON 9800 Pro, that's...

What 'high end' graphics card as replacement in G4 MDD?

I'm a bit confused. I'm looking for a possible replacement for my RADEON 9000 AGP graphics card. I want to aim for a card with at least 128MB ram, as I have 64 MB now. But everywher I look, I basically just stumble across ATI and nVidia cards that are labeled "G5 only". So, has anybody either...

    Half of hard drive missing!

There is a software workaround as well, there was much talk on that topic in recent days/weeks. But the software was pretty expensive IMO, so I would rather go for the PCI IDE Controller solution

Which Is Better for My Needs: iPod Mini or iPod Shuffle?

The shuffel has no use of playlists at all, it just plays them in order or random, that's it. I would go for the mini. If I had to chose again, I would go for the mini for sure (as my 15GB iPod is now pretty oversized for me...). I think the mini is much better to use, and from my expirience...

Installing Internal HD in G4 PowerMac Mirror Drive

I'm not 100% sure where you want to install it. Do I get it right, that you want to install it next to the pre-installed drive in the ATA100 cage? (Near the back next to the processor) If so, you first have to remove a screw on top of the cage, that holds it to the case. Only if that is...

    Help Identifying an Old iMac

The install program by Apple always runs at a fixed resolution, no way to change that there. You need a functional booting system to change that. If you want to install netBSD on it anyways, can't you change resolutions later after that installation? I don't really see the point in...

New to me Mac - Old Windows Drives

Well, do you want to read data from the drives, or is it just for using those drives as additional HDDs? If the latter is the case, you shoul definately reformat them to HFS+, as you can not take advantage of the rights management of OS X. If you can plug them to a Windows machine, and you do...

External hard drive with Mac & Windows

What interest should Apple have in allowing to format FAT32? Providing UNIX-FS and DOS is more then Microsoft offers. I could imagine it has something to do with copyright issues for licensed tech. that Apple would like to save by not implementing it, as it is not really necessary

    Help Identifying an Old iMac

I must confess, that goes beyond my knowledge right now... But if it says it runs PC100 RAM modules, it will surely require PC100 modules (or faster ones, that are backward compatible).

Problem with graphic card? -> games

I don't know if the card has a readable sensor on it to check. Usually TemperatureMonitor gets all available sensors, so if it does not list it, I'm afraid it does not have a sensor. Only thing I could think of would be a smal thermometer with a cabled sensor that could be attatched to the GPU...

Problem with graphic card? -> games

Hey there! My problem is kinda solved, as my Mac was in repair for about two weeks (they were just lazy bums, that could have been done in three days IMO...) Apart from the problem with the RAM I had, I figured out that hot air got stuffed in the back, and the machine/graphics card got...

    Help Identifying an Old iMac

To Evilguru: Regarding your problem about lacking knowledge to open and modify the iMacs interiors, this document might help: iMac DV Service Manual (PDF) (has about 11MB, lot's of pictures and illustrations in it) It's a guide by Apple I found on the net the other day while googling...

    Demonstrations, played or programed?

In shooters, like Quake 3 Arena, I think they really are played most of the time. There are real freaks out there that play like that (when it really looks like a skillful action. Believe me, I met em ;)) Even when I see myself playing Halo now on "Legendary" like it was normal skill level...

    Help Identifying an Old iMac

No, standard PC100 will do. I had to upgrade a friends machine once, and I just went to the standard PC vendor around the corner to buy RAM. I won't mix the RAMs though. Either put two PC100 or PC133 in it, but not one PC100 and one PC133. That is often the source for quite some trouble from my...
