yes, OSX CD's mount, but running the installer that way and waiting for it to reboot itself results in the same thing. So I just tried your zapping the PRAM, then holding down c idea, which I thought was a great idea, and still nothing.

The Dimms are fine, I just ran Dimm first Aid. I will try zapping the pram and removing the monitor in a little bit. I think I might alsot ry connecting an external cd drive and try booting from it.

I call complete and utter bull sh!t I tried this several times, each time entering upwards of 1500 characters in the password field. No dice. Screen saver did not, I repeat, NOT crash.

My main concern is: is it too tall to fit sideways in a rack?
