As far as DSL, you should have no problems at all if using OSX. Setup in X is easier than a Windows machine. You will just need the info to put in these setup window such as DNS servers/various settings.

Turn the monitor off before you boot the computer. The machine autosenses the monitor right off the bat, so the monitor needs to be off from the very beginning of the boot. After the boot is 100% complete, then turn on the monitor. This should work....
