    How clean is your screen?

I gotta do a better job covering my mouth when I sneeze.* Unlike Quion, NO ONE ever wants to touch my iMac. * Ewwww!

    Adding TV Shows to iTunes

If no one comes up with a better Mac solution, you could try AtomicParsley. It's for a Mac but it runs at the command line in Terminal (i.e., you'll type commands, not point and click). It includes "Using AtomicParsley" as a PDF, which is pretty well written to hold your hand using it. Good...

iMovie - AVI clips + still images

I use Perian to play AVIs in Quicktime. I don't expect that the app will allow you to edit the files in iMovie, but its price, free, makes it worth a shot. Good luck!

Is it possible to wirelessly stream .avi files to my TV from my Mac

That's not the way that I read the Apple TV page and why I canceled my order. On the "What you need" tab, Apple says: Video • Video formats supported: H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): 640 by 480, 30 fps, LC version of Baseline Profile; 320 by 240, 30 fps, Baseline...

Road Runner Upgraded My Internet (10 down/1 up)

With Time Warner Cable, NYC (Northern Manhattan), I rebooted my modem Sunday and got upgraded to 7 Mbs up and 512 kbs down, from 5/384. The upgrade is unannounced and has come and gone before. Verizon's FiOS is already competing with TWC-NYC in boroughs outside Manhattan and will here too...

How much do you pay for broadband?

Time Warner NYC $60/mo 5Mbs/394Kbs. $45/mo in bundle with cable. Free upgrade to 8Mbs/1Mbs coming. No explicit d/l limits (I haven't seen those in years). It will get cheaper once TWC-NYC has to compete with FiOS. I can't wait!

    nytimes cookie

Grrrr! It just happened again. I am absolutely certain that I did not visit Netflix.com via Safari but there's their cookies in Safari. It may be related to private browsing, the only reason that I ever use Safari. I wish that I could replicate this issue at will, but so far I can't.

    nytimes cookie

I can no longer replicate this issue. This time I emptied my trash after deleting ~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist. I'm guessing what was happening was that Safari was stubbornly recreating deleted cookies and not that Firefox was somehow saving cookies in Safari's cookie file.

    nytimes cookie

Yes, the Netflix cookies were there. Isn't that just where Safari stores its cookies? I deleted the file with Safari closed and then navigated to Netflix in Firefox, the cookies appeared again in that file.

I have the same issue with two Netflix cookies, a site I visit only in Firefox but its cookies also appear in Safari somehow.

    Firefox 2: How Is It?

I'd install Firefox 2. The thing I like best is the really slick way it updates extensions now. You click, "Yes, I'd like to update the extension and yes, I'd like to restart Firefox." It also does a much nicer job displaying or subscribing to RSS feeds. Further, I no longer need an extension...

    trash

I'd try quiting any apps that may be "using" the music file, like iTunes. You can command-tab and then command-q to quit each of your open apps in turn. If that doesn't help, I'm sure someone will be along in a few minutes with better suggestions. Good luck!

Dock notification for new podcasts in iTunes?

Does anyone know of a tool for displaying a notification in the dock when new podcasts are available in iTunes? I'm looking for something like the numeral in the red dot that appears for new email in the Mail app. If there's a setting in iTunes, I'm going to be so embarrassed. I hunted there...

    IEdler.dll? IE7 on XP-SP2

Can anyone find any information about the Browser Helper Object "IEdler.dll"? It appears in my add-ons for IE7 on Windows XP SP2 but I can't find any information about it in Google, etc. I've disabled the BHO, but it worries me to have a DLL which I can't find any information about (and can't...

    Pretty USB hub for iMac?

Has anyone seen a USB port that's attractive for use with an iMac? What I don't want is yet another box on my desk with a cable going to the iMac. What would be ideal is something with a neck to plug into the back of the iMac (so the hub doesn't cover the built-in ports) and a row of add-on USB...

Apple's return policy: Upgrading RAM = not returnable

I just called (1-800-MY-APPLE) and was very specific about selecting upgraded memory in the Apple Store and having Apple install it. The CSR was adamant that that's a "custom configuration" which makes the computer non-returnable. Only the base configurations are returnable.
