The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

You're missing the point. Apple is the ONLY American computer company that refuses to ship to APOs. If it's so damn "costly" or "time-consuming" to ship to APOs, then why does everyone else ship to APOs? Sheer laziness on Apple's part. Also, take note: overseas U.S. military organizations...

The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

Please! Check the current exchange rates for the dollar to the pound sterling. You get paid in pounds, correct? Your trash collectors over there get paid more than most people do in minimum wage jobs in the U.S. Imagine living in the UK and getting paid in U.S. dollars! Ack! And just how...

    how vulnerable are they?

No. Different operating systems. Think about it for a minute: Linux also runs on Intel systems, but are immune to Windows virii. A trojan or virus has to be created to specifically attack the operating system itself or a program on an operating system.

The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

Yes, I like all my peripherals and operating systems to be in a language other than English, my native tongue. Not. Yes, I'd like to pay 1.5 times the U.S. price for Apple products. Not.

The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

U.S. government employee working overseas. At least the Apple store I purchased my Mac mini from gave me my government discount. Wow, they can switch from PowerPC to Intel, put video in iPods, build-in support for iPod remote FM transmitters, sell millions of videos and songs yet still cannot...

The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

Gee, I would buy one of the new "MacBooks" but since Apple refuses to ship to my APO, I think I'll just wait a year or two until the next time I return to the states. If ever.

It's official: illegal in the US to annoy someone online!

Well then, he's a great big HOMO....sapien. :) Seriously though, you should hear some of the comments I hear from returning soldiers: "They passed what law? That's insane! I'm killing my congressman when I get home. It's not like I haven't had any training on that for the past twelve months."...

    New intel Macs

Interesting point, but Microsoft will do anything in it's power to stop "made-for-Windows" programs from running natively on Mac OS X without the need for emulation. It's just so "Ballmer" of them. But then again, Mac OS X will never be seen as any sort of "threat" to Microsoft's market share...

It's official: illegal in the US to annoy someone online!

Good thing I don't live in the U.S. So can I call you a homo now, as long as I never go the U.S.? :)

    iWeb part of iLife '06?

I don't understand why the keynote isn't going to be webcast using the same Apple tech that the U.S. military uses to broadcast football games and events over the nets. I mean, it's all Apple products doing it anyway, from the machine itself to the software used. You would think they would like...

Please help me! My Lacie external drive is playing up!

Sounds like the drive is giving up the ghost. Anyway you can transfer the drive itself into a new USB/Firewire drive housing to rule out any power supply or case hardware issues? If that's the same drive I'm thinking of, a friend of mine had one just like it die on him after the same amount of...

    Entourage with Exchange Troubleshooting

WTF? You don't have all the latest patches installed on the server? Bad admin! Bad! ;) Meh. We use E2K3 in Iraq but back here it's still Exchange 5.5 on server 2000. Thank God for BackupExec at least. Please tell me you're running OWA on a different server than the primary E2K3 server, right?

Migrating to Mac OS X Server from Windows NT

This is an AD domain, correct? If so, did you already add the new server in AD Users and Computers from an XP Pro box?

What Do I Need for Wi-Fi at Home?

Depends on where the computer is located versus where the incoming broadband line is. Plus it gears them up for the future a little.

What Do I Need for Wi-Fi at Home?

Any 802.11b or 802.11g wi-fi router will do the trick. One of the better ones is the Linksys WRT54G model that can be reflashed with an open-source firmware to enable it to do more "tricks", depending on the hardware in the box. They don't cost much.

    Entourage with Exchange Troubleshooting

If it's not a violation of your company's policies/regulations, then have your Exchange admin give your account IMAP/POP privileges and then just use either Entourage in that mode or the built-in Apple Mail app. Where I work those protocols are disabled per our security policy.

    Entourage with Exchange Troubleshooting

Ok, first off I would like to welcome you to email hell in the form of "Microsoft Exchange". Now, being an Exchange Admin myself I'm going to need some more details: What version of Exchange are you trying to connect to? Exchange 5.5, 2000, or 2003?
