I personally prefer Freehand most of the time but was an illustrator user since it was released ages ago as Illustrator 88. Inkscape looks interesting as well, but I have not tried it. Not really seen anything else that is worth investigating.

Yep, iPhoto will give you some editing funcionality. If thats not enough there are affordable shareware and commerical alternatives that are more powerful, like GraphicConverter and Adobe Photoshop Elements.

You can always put Tiger on it and see how it performs and then go to an alternatiev previous version if needed.

You can use an applescript to auto mount that drive at boot... thats what i do, it sends the info and the drives come up from my other machines. I believe you can also add the drive to your startup items and it will mount but not sure on that one as ive never tried it.

Yes, Tiger does offer the monitor rotate... however, for everyone else using an ATI card, their control panel (and the latest firmware update) offers the same functionality. Actually ATI has been doing VersaVision for quite a bit longer than Apple.
