When reading this thread, this came to mind...

Listen to this recording of the noise... I added iPod clicking sound so you know the relative loudness of the noise... Now when I turn on my iPod, it wants me to select my language... :confused: Note: This sound stays this way until I shut the iPod down.

I'm having the same problem with my 15 month old iPod right now... :(

Well guys, I've successfully installed the Java Update, I tried it again a few days ago, click pause a couple of times, and tyhen it worked. But now there is a Quicktime 6.5.1 update, and I get the exact same error...

macoszone is the new macupdate? Wow it's gotten worse..

Well I reinstalled it with the combo update of .3.3, and it still gives the exact same error message. btw I started up with fsck -y, and I had problems there and it asked to force check something by typing -f but when I did that, it said no such command available.

Thanks, I guess I'll just reinstall and report back later.

Well the installer said this Java update was only for 10.3.1 and above, but I'm running 10.3.3 :confused: See attachment for the error window

Okay I'm going to run System Optimizer in a minute (the same as Onyx), and then try to Install Java from VT.

If I enter "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" without the quotation marks of course, nothing seems to happen, and nothing has changed after 10 mins now. So that the terminal thing, and Disk Utility, I already tried that.

I don't know how to run software update from the terminal, and is that command one line, or 2?
