    s t o k e d is the word

Two seconds ago I just completed my order for a G4 2x867Mhz with 1Gb Ram, 2 x 120Gb harddrives, CD-RW/DVD-R .. On top of that I threw in a GeForce 4Ti. Damn it feels good to be alive. .. Now all I have to do is to wait for 10 - 18 days. Darned.

    Scanning under OS X

At work we have an Imacon FlexTight Precision II scanner. It's not really a low-end one, rather like top of the line. Problem is that Imacon has yet to release a driver for X.. And now it has gone quite a while since the public beta times. One would think a company relying on...

    Inkwell?

i've got a wacom tablet that was not attached during the installation of 10.2.. but later when I plugged it in the prefpane appeared in system preferences, so i am guessing its dormant until it senses you have one attached. try going out in the terminal and type: "locate *inkwell*"...

    Networking X to 9?

i'm not a pro when it comes to this kind of networking but i did it a long time ago with 10.1.5 to 9.2.2 and it worked fine. OS X can access the "old" Shared Folders from OS9 so you really should not have any problems getting them to communicate that way. from OS9 to OSX i am not sure you can...

Can Dual Xserves running 10.2 be load balanced?

Well, loadbalancing is really good depending on what you're going to use it for. Say you want to loadbalance or loadshare a fileserver, then you'll have to have a realtime synchronization of the files residing on the two harddrives, otherwise one can not find the same files on both servers...

    Interesting: DVI to ADC

:D Yes! That's right. I just cannot see what is wrong!! Keep in mind this is not an Apple flatmonitor, could that have anything to do with it? ..

    Interesting: DVI to ADC

Yeah, I tried an old Apple 15" monitor and it worked fine when I connected it in the VGA. I'm so curious as to find what is the problem here..

    Interesting: DVI to ADC

Yes, everything is getting power. The monitor fits your description but since its button does light up when I press it it is getting power. I was thinking maybe the monitor needs to be in the VGA connector on the card, not the DVI?

    Interesting: DVI to ADC

Hey! Thanks for the advice. I have tried resetting the P-RAM and it didn't have any effect unfortunately.. Do you think it should work with DVI even though it's not a flat monitor? Also, I have a DVI to VGA converter. Think it'd be worth a shot to put that in the mix as I am quite sure...

    Interesting: DVI to ADC

Ok, at home I have the old G4 Dual processor 450. I figured the old ATI graphics card we got with it from the Apple Store was getting a bit to tired to run 10.2 so I went out and got an ATI Radeon 8500 instead. Well at home I realised the monitor is one of the rare ones Apple had out for a...

    OS X 10.1 vs. 10.2... improvements?

I have been using it for about two to three weeks now and I must say it's quite good. Especially if you compare it to 10.1 :p Though I must say the speed improvements are not that great. What happens when you install an update like this from Apple is that the installer will prebind pretty...

    WebObjects good, bad or ugly?

... hey! personally I have no experience from WebObjects even though I have been in this business for just about 4 years. after building a whole lot of sites using various tools / languages like Asp, Asp.NET, .NET-components, Cgi-Bin, Pure Pearl driven by databases like Oracle, MSSQL and...

What would YOU like to see at MWNY?

The AirPort is too slow for real a real server-client workflow. When you're pushing 100Mb PSD-files every 15 minutes it's WAY too slow. .. Yeah, we need faster AP.

    Security exploit in SoftwareUpdate?

I just wanted to run something by you all.. I heard the SW Update in OS X has a grave security problem since it does not authenticate when connecting to Apple's server. Basically what one could do is to spoof the update server and install whatever you like naming it perhaps "10.2 update" so...
