Inkwell?

Well I got my 17" iMac today ... it's beautiful. But I have a question to those with the final Jaguar update ... do any of you have Inkwell installed? I looked in every folder without any luck. During the second disc install I accidentally turned off the power, but everything seemed to reinstall again once I booted it back up. So maybe that's why I don't have it. I checked all the discs it came with to see if it was a seperate package, but nope. Anyone have an idea?

I believe you need a tablet for it to show up on your pref panels and whatnot...

I don't know where the files would be, but I intend to find out in a couple of days. =>

Hmm.. My thinking is that it may only install if you have a supported graphics tablet attached. I could be wrong, though, as I do not have Jaguar yet.

EDIT: Darn it, Javintosh! :D

i've got a wacom tablet that was not attached during the installation of 10.2..

but later when I plugged it in the prefpane appeared in system preferences, so i am guessing its dormant until it senses you have one attached.

try going out in the terminal and type:

"locate *inkwell*"

or

"locate *.prefpane"

.. i am not sure the suffix for preference panes are prefpane, but they should be.

that way you might find it.

FYI: locate doesn't need such a specific argument. `locate inkwell` is good enough.

Inkwell is all nice and that, but it's much too indirect to write on the tablet and look at the screen. We need tablet Macs or at least portable screens with tablets with wireless connections to our Macs. That'd be healthier. And: It recognises the English language quite well in my German localised Jaguar. But does NOT understand any German at all. It's a pity that Apple doesn't understand the term 'localisation'. Guess they spell it 'localization', too.

There was an interesting article in the New York Times that states that inkwell (and other things) is evidence that Apple is working an a new PDA. Of course Apple is hush hush, but a variety of people in the article stated that the signs were all there. I know this has been beat to death in other threads, but this article was this week (Monday or Sunday).
