    dumb question?

Hello! I have just installed Fink through their package. When I'm in dselect and try to run the "install" option it says it cannot find the "apt-config" program. Ok, so I exit dselect and try to run "sudo apt-config" from the terminal and it does not work at all. Finally I figured out that I...

    Second Dock automatically killed

ed, if we could have two or three docks open AT THE SAME TIME what would give us to opportunity to have one dock for apps, one for docs and one for various stuff.. I for one don't like messing up my dock with temporary stuff.. And I really don't want to bring up an app just to switch Docks..

How do I stop Apache directory indexing?

Hey! Try adding this to httpd.conf: <Location /> Options -Indexes </Location> That'll keep people from browsing your directories. Also, you might want to add a cutom error page for HTTP 403 - Forbidden. Otherwise the users trying to access a directory without an index.html will only...

    command line java tools??

Hey Kermit, Try: <b>"javac a.java"</b> then "<b>java a"</b> (without the .class) You're not supposed to use "*.class" when you run it throgh java.. That ought to do the trick.. If you run into more problems try renaming the class to something a little longer and more...

    Programing for Mac OS X

Ok, I won't criticise you :p , but some of the things you listed is true for a Java environment as well.. If you use ProjectBuilder it stores all of the NIBs and classes in "one" project.. Really great job done by Apple on the interface by the way.. I think it's probably good to start out...

iDisk is really really really slow under X. I'm using a tier-1 and it's still sloooow.. Both in XP and OS X.. Damn, I wish there was more fiberoptics in this world..

    Programing for Mac OS X

Sure, you can use RealBasic to write apps for the Mac, if you don't have an issue with even tiny apps using up 50 Mb of diskspace. Real Basic sucks.. The same functionality can be incorporated into a Java app and it'll weigh 10% of the RealBasic one.

    Logging In As Root User

I have been using X since the third beta as root. It works just fine as long as you "respect" all the wrong-doings you can do as root, such as discarding the /library or /system .. The way I see it there are a lot of pros.. I.e. your view settings are a l w a y s saved and so on.. Go for...
