NVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra support monitor pivot?

My understanding only for ATI, not nVidia.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

With all the talk of Apple switching to Intel I think there's one thing that may have been overlooked. If PPC was a joint venture of Apple, IBM and Motorola, it stands to reason that each member had rights to develop a CPU based on the PPC architecture. Apple being the only member without CPU...

I'm pissed. G5 and Bluetooth upgrade issue!!!

I purchased my PowerMac without BT and just today received my BT module from www.mac-pro.com. Quick delivery, install was pretty easy. Works great! Check them out if you want to upgrade to BT. $99 bucks plus shipping.

    Tiger BlueTooth question

Ok, I just installed the Apple Bluetooth module and all is well. Maybe it had something to do with the Dlink USB? Don't know for sure.

    Tiger BlueTooth question

No, I did a clean install. I can force it to sleep, but won't automatically do it after any set amount of time. Of course it goes to sleep without bluetooth just fine.

    Tiger BlueTooth question

Seems that when I use the DBT-120 with Tiger my system no longer sleeps. Anyone else?

Forget Switchers... It's Time To Think Different...

All I recall is the one lame PowerMac commercial with the kid being thrown against the tree and the wrecked house. All the new hardware since then, iMac, Mini, and the PowerMac need to have more exposure. A lot of people are in the dark "still" about the Mac.

Forget Switchers... It's Time To Think Different...

I say, a little less spin and promote the desktop hardware some more instead of just the iPod.

A review of what's already been updated us about all the hardware we probably will see and some software demos.

    G5 Powerbooks, finally???

I can only hope Think Secret us right and the the wait is finally over. Credit card at the ready. Specs are about where I expected in terms of CPU speed. If true cool, althought the URL is kinda fishy. Check it out!

    Unexpected eMac upgrade?

Honestly, I think the eMac should be canned. The low-end 1.6 iMac could of been left int he lineup to takes its place.

Thoughts on latest PM G5 upgrades?

Not knowing the intricacies of chip design, my best guess would be it has something to do with slow RAM access.

Thoughts on latest PM G5 upgrades?

High end P4s have a 1066MHz FSB. I think that it's odd that the x86 side can crank up the clock speed of the CPU, but still be limited somewhat by the FSB. It's always been slow to catch up. Running a 3.2Ghz P4 with a FSB at 1/4 the speed has be holding back the P4 unless it simply can't...

Thoughts on latest PM G5 upgrades?

I recently thought about buying a 23" ACD to replace my Samsung 21" LCD, but after measuring the screens, you just don't get enough screen area to justify the cost, so I went with dual 20" and am really glad I did. Wouldn't go back to using a single screen. Now a 30" ACD, perhaps, but not...

    Future PowerPC beyond 3.2 ghz?

I don't think Apple would deliberately hold back any progress on the desktop while their engineers try to iron out the difficulties putting a G5 in a PowerBook. We may never see a G5 in a PowerBook and may take the next generation G6 before the CPU architeture is able to be put in a portable...

    10.4.1 update. Get it now!

Lots more fixes than I had originally thought it would have.

    Future PowerPC beyond 3.2 ghz?

I'd have to say 8.0 is when DirectX came of age. It's then when I noticed the heavy duty GeForce and Radeon cards appearing with 8.0 support. OpenGL shouldn't be in such bad shape, I think it's just the it doesn't get any recognition anymore. The opengl.org website always has plenty of activity.

    Future PowerPC beyond 3.2 ghz?

The majority of worthwhile games for the PC will use DirectX instead of OpenGL, but it should cut down on development time than starting from an x86 code base. Don't know for sure, I've never tried, but considerig the origins of OpenGL, I have a hard time believing that it can be so inferior...

    Future PowerPC beyond 3.2 ghz?

I suppose what good can come out of this is that the code base for these games opens up opportunities for developers to support the Mac with much less of a financial risk than supporting two completely different platforms x86/PPC.

    Future PowerPC beyond 3.2 ghz?

The original is a .WMV format, but as you can see he's playing a .MOV. Probably converted it, or someone else did.
