I had a problem similar too this when using AIM (AOL instant messenger) a few years ago. Is your IM program AIM? if so, try using something else like ichat or adium.

You probably have "auto-complete" turned on in the preferences. I no longer own a mac, so I can't be more help. Go to the preferences and search around for 'auto-complete'. Your english is pretty good compared to many people. :)
