Simple answer: make sure your partitions do not exceed say, 7GB (that 1 GB for partitionmaps etc that appear as reserved...) then you'll be safe under 8 GB... one more word: Experiment! (Do not take my words as "This is how it goes", I've yet to install Jag...)

get a copy of Developer Tools from Apple, available for download (200+ megs), you may need to register as online member of ADC, but the benefits... You'll get GCC3 with that and other goodies too:)
