    iPod Software 1.2 Updater - It's here

Not here at 5:42 EST...come on, Apple! I'm about to burst here!

    Needed iTunes Improvements

That CDDB feature you mentioned would be GREAT; however I don't think the lookup feature works with just sound files. I think it works with checksums from the CD or something that is CD specific, not song specific. So without the CD the CDDB has no idea what a song is.

iPod Firmware Update Confirmed by Apple - Coming Soon!

I KNEW that visualizer thing was a hoax :)! It just seems so un-Apple to include it! it is better to have information on the screen than a visualizer anyway... Anyday now Apple, we are all waiting...where's our update?

    Powerbook g4/400 - soon outdated?

I've been hearing from fryke that the PowerBook line will probably be updated in September/October...which makes common sense :) since that is how they were updated last year. (1GHz and internal BlueTooth are among the new features) Unless you really want to upgrade, I would wait for Jaguar...

    Powerbook Revision?

Oh I see what you mean by common sense moniker now, I just thought you had absolutel definite information. 1) Yeah, that would be common sense. ;) There's always a processor speed increase, we should expect it anyway. Hopefully they will maintain the quiet fans of the latest revisions...as...

    Powerbook Revision?

Add two things to my PB feature wish list: *Better video card - the one currently installed is very good, but could still be better since you can't upgrade it. Plus while QE is supported on the current models, it could be even faster on a better card. Maybe an nVidia card finally, w/ 64 MB...

    Powerbook Revision?

Do you know if there are any changes to the case that allow better AirPort reception? I've heard mixed results about the current revision's range, and would really like to see the PowerBook on par with the iBook, but this is probably unlikely... Those three things you said would be REALLY cool...

How many applications created by Apple do you use?

Well, FINE, whip out the UNIX commands on us! :) Sure, you can do it the CLI way too, but I suggested getting TinkerTool because Neyo is a Terminal newbie and also because TinkerTool is definitely one of the best system prefs out there (it's free too!). Anybody who doesn't have it installed...

How many applications created by Apple do you use?

yup, it's currently possible to add transparency to the Terminal, but you have to do it with TinkerTool (freeware! great program!) It's one of those features that Apple built in but is not adjustable through Apple's preferences. That's why 3rd parties come to the rescue!!!! Jaguar will fix...

How many applications created by Apple do you use?

Hey neyo, I've got a good 1st Terminal command for you to commemorate your new iBook purchase: type (without quotes): "banner SWITCHED!" (no it won't delete your whole harddrive or anything :)) You can type anything you want after banner. Congrats on your iBook! :)

How many applications created by Apple do you use?

Wow, did it really double in speed? That's a great improvement. Could you point me to a link or something that has that article? (I subscribed last year to MA but I don't remember that). Does it only work on broadband? I wonder why Apple wouldn't allow you to change it with the computer...

    New boot screen in 6c106

Thanks Hobeau! It looks kind of like a mini OS X Install CD. It's about the size of the beachball cursor...so maybe at one point it was the startup cursor instead of the beachball we have now:)? Probably not. I hope you didn't go through and make that image manually...what a pain! but I...

    iPod problems

I could have told you that! :) Anyway, what he DIDN'T tell you (see, I'm smarter than him already!) is that there is 3rd way to reset your Pod. Just restart it normally then hold down left, right, AND the middle "Action" button as well. This will make the Pod enter diagnostic mode where you can...

What would you like the upcomming MacOS to have?

Can someone enlighten me as to what a journalled file system is? I personally would like file system that actively avoids fragmentation at minimal speed loss like UFS and is not damaged if the computer crashes, but I don't know if that second option is possible...anyway, what's a journalled file...

Another reason the iPod is great...

Actually, that slight rattle sound is not controlled by Apple - in fact, that is the last thing they want to change about the iPod. Why? Because that sound is the hard drive (made only by Toshiba)! I think it has something to do with the magnetic heads being parked when the disk isn't spinning...

    New boot screen in 6c106

Yes, the TIFF format IS integrated into Quartz, but the thing is, , Quartz isn't loaded yet the instant Mac OS X is started up. Instead of loading graphics layers, the OS is running through it's startup procedures like copying bits of itself into RAM, detecting hardware, checking filesystems on...

Another reason the iPod is great...

sorry for the confusing writing...I'll start from the beginning My 5 GB iPod had short battery life and more recently had a screen problem (the screen looked "burnt", kinda washed out). I did some research online at places like www.macintouch.com/ipod.html and found that some people had sent...

Another reason the iPod is great...

nononono... you don't get a brand new 10 or 20 GB model, you may get a new 5 GB model. Probably not though. I just heard of some people getting entirely new models back when they sent their broken ones in for repair. I was hoping Apple would send me a refurbished model of the same price I paid...

Jaguar is $50 off at Amazon!

Jocknerd: are you being sarcastic? Unless I'm seeing things then there IS in fact an option for Jaguar. Look in the middle of the image and go down from the top. You will see "Mac OS X 10.2: Jaguar" with a $50 rebate checkbox.

    Personalize your iPod

I would imagine it's not quite like there's a guy manning a long assembly line of iPods and everytime a new customize order is placed he has to pick one off of the line, ferry it over to the engraving person, get it engraved and then wrap it and specifically ship it to you. There is probably...
