That CDDB feature you mentioned would be GREAT; however I don't think the lookup feature works with just sound files. I think it works with checksums from the CD or something that is CD specific, not song specific. So without the CD the CDDB has no idea what a song is.

I KNEW that visualizer thing was a hoax :)! It just seems so un-Apple to include it! it is better to have information on the screen than a visualizer anyway... Anyday now Apple, we are all waiting...where's our update?

I've been hearing from fryke that the PowerBook line will probably be updated in September/October...which makes common sense :) since that is how they were updated last year. (1GHz and internal BlueTooth are among the new features) Unless you really want to upgrade, I would wait for Jaguar...

Add two things to my PB feature wish list: *Better video card - the one currently installed is very good, but could still be better since you can't upgrade it. Plus while QE is supported on the current models, it could be even faster on a better card. Maybe an nVidia card finally, w/ 64 MB...

Do you know if there are any changes to the case that allow better AirPort reception? I've heard mixed results about the current revision's range, and would really like to see the PowerBook on par with the iBook, but this is probably unlikely... Those three things you said would be REALLY cool...

Well, FINE, whip out the UNIX commands on us! :) Sure, you can do it the CLI way too, but I suggested getting TinkerTool because Neyo is a Terminal newbie and also because TinkerTool is definitely one of the best system prefs out there (it's free too!). Anybody who doesn't have it installed...

yup, it's currently possible to add transparency to the Terminal, but you have to do it with TinkerTool (freeware! great program!) It's one of those features that Apple built in but is not adjustable through Apple's preferences. That's why 3rd parties come to the rescue!!!! Jaguar will fix...

Can someone enlighten me as to what a journalled file system is? I personally would like file system that actively avoids fragmentation at minimal speed loss like UFS and is not damaged if the computer crashes, but I don't know if that second option is possible...anyway, what's a journalled file...

Actually, that slight rattle sound is not controlled by Apple - in fact, that is the last thing they want to change about the iPod. Why? Because that sound is the hard drive (made only by Toshiba)! I think it has something to do with the magnetic heads being parked when the disk isn't spinning...

Jocknerd: are you being sarcastic? Unless I'm seeing things then there IS in fact an option for Jaguar. Look in the middle of the image and go down from the top. You will see "Mac OS X 10.2: Jaguar" with a $50 rebate checkbox.

I would imagine it's not quite like there's a guy manning a long assembly line of iPods and everytime a new customize order is placed he has to pick one off of the line, ferry it over to the engraving person, get it engraved and then wrap it and specifically ship it to you. There is probably...
