Safe Cleaner for Removing Body Oils from iBook?

I'd say "very much, mucho, mucho, mucho less noticeable," but okay. :D I don't know if the iBook you own is made from the same material as the iBook G3 900, but if it is... just wait to see what will happen to that wrist-rest if you (like me) never bother to clean it. My PowerBook spoils...

Safe Cleaner for Removing Body Oils from iBook?

About a year and a half ago, I was at the Apple Store in Glendale, California looking to replace my iBook 900mhz. Given that both the iBook and the PowerBook I was looking at came in similar configurations, I chose the PowerBook mainly because of the issue that Amie discusses in this thread...

    Newbie

Well, I don't have any suggestions, but I find it interesting that an American is living in a village of Latin America. The fact that she's a photographer only makes it more so. Do you have a blog/website where you share your experiences? If not, Wordpress.com might be a good place to start.

4, no 3 columns of icons

It seems you already tried this, but... I just tried this myself and it worked: Open a window. Resize it. Close it. The next time you open that older, it'll be the way it was just before you closed it.

    recommendations for hard drive wanted

I own a SimpleTech I bought from Costco. I don't know how long I've had it, but it has already been very useful to me. I actually bought the 160GB version, but like the SimpleTech product I link to above, it features both firewire 400 and USB2. You can go to Costco.com and perform a search...

    Displays and dead pixels

Besides, the only thing that movie would do is leave you blind. :D But I guess that would also count as taking that dead pixel out of your life...

SuperDuper is a backup utility that can help. The feature that will come handy for you is called "Smart Update." The SuperDuper Page. For me, it was money well spent (lil less than 30 dollars).

    Ibook won't boot or freezes....

I skimmed through your post, but I gathered that your iBook was freezing from both its internal hard disk and an external one. When it freezes, does the screen go through some weird changes? A faulty logic board would cause the screen to change colors, perhaps some flickering. I'm not saying...

How To Back Up iTunes Music on a Jump Drive

You might be better off backing up to a CD-R... and storing in a safe place. Again, if your music collection doesn't all fit, try compressing it into a disk image (disk utility) or a zip file (within the finder; contextual menu).

How To Back Up iTunes Music on a Jump Drive

I'd drag the whole iTunes folder. Two hundred songs at about 3 megabytes each comes down to 600MB... hence the reason why you are getting an error message. Locate your iTunes Music folder. Get info on it. How much space does it take? Compare that number to the number of megabytes available...

    Displays and dead pixels

Within an hour of powering up my laptop for the first time, I noticed a dead pixel. It's been a year and a half... it remains a lonely pixel. If you can find more than three within the warranty period, you might get Apple to do something about it.

    iwork vs. appleworks

What are your needs? Do you need to do database and mail-merge? Do you find yourself using the "drawing" environment a lot? All these are AppleWorks strengths (compared to iWork). If all you need is a word processor and perhaps presentation software, iWork might be for you. AppleWorks and...

    PowerBook has no power

I agree with your son regarding the minor point: computer should work from adapter. The most important issue here seems to be the transfering of files from the older laptop to the newer one. From what you've told us, I'd say you own a Pismo (black, 500mhz). You can use a firewire cable to...
