I have a G4 iBook running Tiger. I've had it almost exactly 12 months. A few days ago it just froze. Never had that happen since running OSX. I tried rebooting and at first it was okay then froze again. Tried several other things then it wouldn't boot up at all. Tried running Disk Utility and found minor problems but wouldn't reboot. Tried reinstalling entire system (though not a clean install).
Today, I installed Tiger on an external Firewire drive and downloaded Disk Warrior. Restarted on firewire, and ran Disk Warrior. Halfway(?) through rebuilding the disk, it froze the whole computer.
I was worried that my drive had just failed, but how would a bad drive freeze my computer if I was running the system off another drive?
Confused.
Is this a software issue at all? Hardrive? Worse?
