Looking for a certain Mail function

I thought about that, but I have such a large volume of e-mail, I don't want to risk getting five duplicate copies of every single message, unless I can set an account to outgoing only and not download anything. Nosh

Looking for a certain Mail function

This is a very specific, er, thing. I have one e-mail account, and in the Real Name field, I have my Real name. I am subscribed to many mailing lists, which filter into different folders thanks to mail rules. As you know, if you use a recent mail program, that whatever you have as your Real Name...

    Need info on multifunction Printer

Unfortunately, they only offer one model with fax, and that model is not a flatbed. The search continues!

Airport Print Server: Is it standard?

    I could with a $200 snap-on module. No thank you :) Nosh

Airport Print Server: Is it standard?

I picked up an Airport Extreme base station, and I have a multifunction printer. Obviously a multifunction won't be on Apple's compatiblity list, but I was wondering something: Can the print server be comminucated to directly via IP printing? Like a standard print server, does it have it's own...

    Need info on multifunction Printer

I've got a bit of a tall order here: I'm looking for a multifunction printer/scanner/copier/fax with a flat-bed and automatic document feeder, thats networkable with a generic USB print server OR the ability to add a print server module to it, and is compatible with both OS X and a PC running...

    LG combo drive compatibility?

MUCH appreciated. I'll try it this afternoon.

    LG combo drive compatibility?

I purchased one of those refurb eMacs and immediately stuck an LG GCC-4480B combo drive in there, 48x24x48x16x. It works great, except that OS X dosen't like it for disc burning or disc copy, though it works fine in Toast. I've seen fixes around for other LG combo drives of slower speeds. Does...

    Hardware parts, availability?

Where can I go to obtain a complete part inventory? It seems so difficult to search the web for sites that might have a slot-load drive for the old iMac, or an eMac modem replacement... are there any sites that keep a full inventory of all common and uncommon Mac parts for sale? Nosh

    Powerbook G4 w/superdrive and DVD-RW

An update, I went and tried three more brands along with the Verbatim disc. I tried TDK, Memorex, and Imation brand DVD-RW's. None stay, they just eject after about five seconds in the drive. If the hardware is compatible, i'm thinking it might be a software limitation of OS X, perhaps refusing...

    Powerbook G4 w/superdrive and DVD-RW

Right, but that dosen't apply to me because that update is not necessary for the 1ghz Powerbook and the UJ-815 DVD-R drive that comes in it supports DVD-RW writing at 1x, not 2x. If the discs make a difference then I need to hear who has which discs working, because this Verbatim DVD-RW isn't...

    Powerbook G4 w/superdrive and DVD-RW

I've got my Superdrive-happy Powerbook G4 1gHz and I noticed that it spits out every DVD-RW I stick into it. Applecare docs say that the superdrive supports DVD-RW writing in Toast and Discribe, and the specs for the Matsushita drive they used lists DVD-RW: 1x writing. Am I doing something...

CD Tray Password lock, does it exist?

I think so, Brain, but I don't think the hippopotamous will want to wear the underpants. Narf.

CD Tray Password lock, does it exist?

I couldn't tell you why not. I made the image using Disk Copy and mounted the .dmg file, but when Jedi Knight 2 loaded and ran its internal CD check, it wasn't satisfied.

CD Tray Password lock, does it exist?

No, all the Macs are networked, but all on display to the public, so it would disappear eventually.

CD Tray Password lock, does it exist?

Yes, but the networked game in question, Jedi Knight 2, won't use a mounted image as the CD when it makes it's check. We have the CD's, we don't want to use some 'NoCD workaround' in a retail environment. Nosh

CD Tray Password lock, does it exist?

In 10.2, on all Macs that have the ejection keys on the keyboard, has anyone heard of software that would prompt for an ejection password when the key is pressed? I'm looking for a way to have game CD's stay in a series of Macs in my retail store without people grabbing them and leaving :) Nosh

Anyone with the new tibook 1ghz and superdrive?

I'm probably not the most experienced user to tell you about comparisons, since I've only BEEN a Mac user for four months and this is my second Macintosh, but lets see. Compared to the TiBook 800, the fans are probably three times as loud, and turn on more often, however due to this the keyboard...

Anyone with the new tibook 1ghz and superdrive?

I picked it up from CompUSA on saturday the 23rd. I had the PB 800 before hand and what I was most looking forward to was the 64MB ATI 9000. It's incredible video performance for ANY laptop, to be sure. I'm sure the 1Ghz plays some part in that too, although about the Superdrive, I don't think...
