Apple, making sure all is well in the world of Software Updates, has made "Panther Test Software Update 2.0" available. It installs a Read Me in /Users/Shared and is 140 KB in size. Also, it looks like SWUpdate uses the Safari/WebCore HTML framework to display information now. This update...

I will until it works again, I just was excited to use the Rendezvous burning from my Tangerine iBook.

Toast 6 doesn't work. 5.2.1 or whatever runs quite well, but not 6. Darn. Just when I thought I could use Toast from my Burner-less iBook :(.

From the 7B49 Installer (this was in earlier builds as well): Very cool sounding, even if I'll never use it :D.

Oh, right. Duh! (Insert Caffeine Here) :D I don't have a stopwatch handy, otherwise I would for you. Maybe later :D.

Boot and Shut Down times let you schedule when your Mac will do those things. I never use them so haven't looked for 'em.

Rumor: Apple will abandon G3 nd G4 users as of 10.4

Why would our old machines become a, in my case, Sage doorstop? They still work OK, just they don't have the latest-and-greatest system. I can live with that (probably because my good ol' iMac will be 4 by then, and I'll be thinking about a laptop by then...).

    MovableType/Perl Question and/or Problem

I run my blog on my site, so MovableType is installed and was working great with 10.2 and 10.3 Beta, up until 7B44 that is. I know that not all of you have Panther, but those who do (or even those who know anything about MovableType and Perl 5.8.1RC3 (That's the Perl in 7B44 afaik...)), could...

As said in another topic: Get some CDRWs. They're slower, yes and a bit more pricey, true; but the end result is that you don't have to keep crankin' out the CD-Rs like they're going out of style. Unless, of course, you like to have old builds lying about... then yes, CD-Rs are the way to go...

    7b44 ? :)

yeah, i've had that also. I just live w/it.

    7b44 ? :)

I've gathered that is has something to do with perl 5.8.1 not being kosher with MT's perl scripts.

    7b44 ? :)

Anyone notice that MovableType no longer works? Is this just me, or did, like I suspect, Panther 7B44 overwrite my Perl install?

    7b44 ? :)

Um... Nope. Just an iPod 2.0.1 Update (constantly reminding me that I can't have that version of software on my Happy 10 GB iPod).

    Spring Loaded Folders in Dock?

    That's what I thought, I never used folders-in-the-dock.

    Spring Loaded Folders in Dock?

You can drag a folder on to them, if that's what you mean... I can't remember if you could before or not. I would supply a movie, but snapz pro doesn't seem to work in 7B44.

    7b44 ? :)

I personally like the new icon. It is very "Apple Chic"; matches the new metallic undertones of the system. Also, this build feels a lot snappier, even on my iMac G3 450MHz. Anyone else notice this?

    iPod a Day Giveaway

Read the terms and conditions at applemusic.com, it says no purchase necessary. Purchase does not (nor does it ever really) improve odds of winning.

    ADC Seed 7B39!

I just noticed the new "About This Mac" window. Very cool: The "More Info..." button, as always, open Apple System Profiler. The "Software Update..." does just that, without even opening System Prefs. Its these little UI improvements that make the system great (ok, not really, but its a...
