    problems restarting Black Macbook (10.5.8)

Do yourself a favor and download and install "EasyFind". Once installed, run it and do a search for a file, one you suspect you have duplicates of. EasyFind will show you every instance of this file, complete with location paths. A right click on any file will take you to the files location...

Folder on desktop disappeared and no longer exists!

The more obvious question here would be, seeing as you say the folder has been around for at least 2 days, do you have a backup? Or would that just make things too easy?

Move OSX Snow leaopard from macbook to imac

You do not need to buy Snow Leopard, Apple will send a free copy to any Mobile Me user, just for the asking. But I know, you're probably the same as most of us, "in a big hurry" and would like something to happen quicker. :)

My TimeMachine external backup disk stop work.

Could have saved yourself the wasted time if you'd taken my suggestion back in post #2, which is exactly what you've just done, only 5 days later.

My TimeMachine external backup disk stop work.

You could start by following the advice in the message and do a backup and reformat. After which you should be able to select and use the disk for Time Machine once again.

    SPOTLIGHT - Using it better?

Also, in 'System Preferences' under 'Spotlight' there is a 'Privacy' tab where you can add pretty much anything such as Folders etc that you do not want Spotlight to index. This is a good way to cut down on a lot of the 'fluff'.

    SPOTLIGHT - Using it better?

Not until you also 'Empty' the mail apps Trash folder. Not knowing which version of OS X you are using, I'm guessing here, but if I right click my mail Trash icon it is called 'Erase deleted messages'.

    SPOTLIGHT - Using it better?

I'd be careful messing with MBOX files. Also you'd be well advised to manage-delete mail messages from within your mail application, this way the mail app can keep track of messages and not end up with a corrupted database.

Any way to get my bookmarks back?

If they are not simply in the trash, and if you did not have some type of backup working for you, you are probably out of luck.

Please Help Update my Mac 10.4.11

Sorry but there is no such thing as a "Free" 10.5 update. 10.5, otherwise known as "Leopard" cost $129 when it made it's debut. To-day it still costs between $100 - $200 on sites such as Amazon or Ebay.

Need to boot in order to repair but how?

You can repair your boot drive while started in "Single User Mode". Start your mini while pressing and holding the 'Cmd+S' keys. At the command-line prompt type: /sbin/fsck -fy if you receive a report that the file system was modified then repeat the above command.

Help w/ Reinstalling OSX and Keep Existing App's

why not try updating the system to 10.5.8, download the combo updater, run it and see if it cleans things up for you. Other then that the install you would want is called "Archive and Install", look for this under Options when you boot your install DVD. This will install a new system but it...

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

Sorry but I got to call you on this one point. Neither SuperDuper or Carbon Copy can create a bootable clone on a NAS drive, the best they will do is create an img file which is not bootable. So you would need to boot from some other source, before you could restore this img file. If you know...
