    10.1 performance on Pismo 500

640MB RAM++??? You'll be MORE than fine. I'm running it on a PB FireWire G3 400mhz with 128mb RAM, and OS X 10.1 works awesome. If you had problems with OS X 10.0, OS X 10.1 does have many speed enhancements.

    linux driver under osx 10.1

Linux drivers will most likely not work. Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD, which is a UN*X variant. Linux is a variant too, but it is more seperated. The drivers *might* work if you have to compile them, but don't expect a lot of support. You might be able to find a 3rd party with the drivers...

Any print servers work with Mac OS X and 9?

If another volunteer wants to answer part II, go right ahead. I think it will work, but I'm not sure.

Any print servers work with Mac OS X and 9?

Ok, I'm not into physical print servers (I don't use them specifically) but I know Axis puts out some hardware print servers that plug into the parallel port. OS 9 and X should support these by TCP/IP printing. As for OS 10.1, though, I think it should be able to print over Microsoft...

If you can't get the 10.1 upgrade....

Ok, just so you know, the Kansas City CompUSA now has their CDs. I just picked mine up today and I'm going to install it tonight.

    Sounds good to me! :)

If You kids want the Developer Tools...

OK, Apple made a statement that the developer tools will not be available online until October 1st (Tomorrow). They will be accessable through ADC's download section. You may go to http://developer.apple.com/macosx/ to view the statement.

Reseller upgrades: Post who has it

Ok, KC users might have hope. CompUSA in Overland Park has NOT received their copies of the CDs, but as kcmac said, they will take reservations. So, don't give up! ;)

I can upload the 10.1 upgrade CD again

MacOSX.com will not support or post FTP links to the images, due to legal issues. MacOSX.com will not, however, delete any posts regarding FTP images. Thank you!

    Project Builder?

In essence, it's a nice free IDE. They give you an Interface Builder, code editor, and a graphical interface to the gcc compiler. There are some other toys, but these are the main features. Enjoy!

OSX10.1 update doesn't recognize my OSX!

Well, you can always "downgrade" to OS 10.0. This should reslove any problems with files being corrupted. I have yet to try OS 10.1, but this should fix it. But yes, if you have an AppleCare Tech Support Plan, go ahead and call them. Well, your money paid their salaries, and it's...

how exactly DO you get the upgrade?

Talk to the Apple Store. 1800-my-apple. They might be able to take phone orders, and possibly online orders. Again, checking with them is your best bet.

If you can't get the 10.1 upgrade....

Ok, for those of you wondering, the OS 10.1 Dev tools will be available online starting tomorrow. You can access them at Apple's developer site, http://developer.apple.com -- All you need is your Apple ID and password. Also, the reasons the upgrade CDs have been in short supply is because...

If you can't get the 10.1 upgrade....

If you are unable to find a copy of the 10.1 upgrade, you have 3 options. You can download from the FTP servers (I don't know how legal this is), you can wait until a local store has more, or you can order a CD from the Apple Store for $20. The Apple Store won't have any in for 2-3 weeks...

WTF is with CompUSA, and XP?

But yes, the reason is when you call your local CompUSA, you are rerouted to the national call center, so they all say the same thing! ;) One person tried to transfer me in-store, and they ended up transferring me to the fax machine!!! I wasn't too happy with that. :p

I wanna host, but I have a question...

A *nice* free FTP server is proFTPd (I think it's Linux only though). As for FTP ports, you need to open port 21. You can also use SCP (if you have an SSH daemon/server, again Linux), which is more secure. For windows, I don't know.

Reseller upgrades: Post who has it

For those in KC, I'll be talking to Staples and CompUSA when I get up (which will be EARLY) ;). Might be easier than upgrading from a disk image.

Those who want 10.1 via ftp... read...

Ok, currently I'm downloading on a DSL line, and it's at about 125kbps a sec so it will be done in an hour. I will UPLOAD to people's mirrors if they want. Again, T1 or better please! :D

Those who want 10.1 via ftp... read...

Ok, my thoughts: Set up a mirror system. That way, mirror access is always provided, to select users who are given the mirror username and password. If the mirrors download it (possibly on a T1 or greater), then those can host per their own rules. And we get more, and more, and more, and...

    Driver for IOMega CD Burner?

Dunno. I have the ZipCD USB drive too. They said they won't work on Powerbooks, but I proved them wrong. 8) I'm going to wait until I get the 10.1 upgrade from FTP here, as nobody around me has it. I'll let you know if I succeed, though.
